Guy leaves bookstore with random girl after a nice dinner.  Girl says, "I like you, but to have sex with me I will charge you 5,000 dollars".


Compare that with:

Guy leaves bookstore with random girl after a nice dinner.  Girl says, "you can have sex with me for free".

Because your scenario involves a bookstore and a nice dinner. It is positing a theory to hear oneself talk. Reality is more likely to involve an abused runaway hooking to stay alive. You want to see prostitution as some issue to be debated? Fine. As Groink said, it is a not a career choice.

Look, there's a good line from Woody Allen's 'Shadows and Fog.' Woody's character indignantly states that he has never paid for sex in his life. A woman overhearing this notes that he just thinks he hasn't. I get the distinction, Db, I really do. But if you ever find yourself around girls/women who have had to do this type of work, you soon find out that these are broken individuals with a lot of pain in their life. You want to condone or support this industry, go right ahead. It'll be around forever. But I'll find my sex and solace with someone I like not some walking semen deposit slot from a broken home.
