Long drive competitions
« on: May 06, 2009, 08:37:05 PM »
Anybody here like to smash golf balls over 350 yards?

This is the guy who's winning everything right now - 165 lbs.

Believe it or not, size has very little if anything to do with a long drive.

I know - I'm 185 and can hit it well over 350.  However, the fact that this guy is 165 and all of the other top guys are bears is pretty amazing.

Take a look at Michelle Wei, all of 120lbs and 320 yard drives. I only average about 270-275 :(

Might have something to do with you being vertically challenged.

We know you were hoping for a picture of an oiled up guy in a thong. Tired if looking at the fat POS you are everytime you look in the mirror?

No, thats not it, my instructor takes video of my swing and he told me that that I'm standing too far forward in my stance and my shoulders are rotating before my hips. Were trying to reverse that. But my driving accuracy is high (about 12 of 18) on average. Trying to get ready for the Long Beach Open in July.

Jason Zuback is a buddy of mine. he is 5 time world champ. golfing with him is unreal. he drives par 5's.

he has squatted 630 in competition, and  i have spotted him benching 3 and a half plates for triples.

he is the most disciplined athlete i have ever seen. i wish i had his work ethic.

What does Zuback do on a regular length, 370 yard par 4?  How does he take his foot off the gas pedal when he's routinely going over 400?

Jason is an intelligent person; I'm impressed with his knowledge and passion for long drive.  He's more articulate than tour pros.

BUUUULLLLLLLSSSHHHHIIIII ITTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   lmao... you do NOt drive over 350.

MAYBE with a big downhill and a ferocious wind at your back.

flat ground no wind? id bet you top out at no more than 250.

how you swing has very little to do with how good of a golfer you are.  if that is what mattered, davis love 3 would be killing tiger. and jim furyk would never in his wildest dreams become pro.

dont worry about looking like you have a pro-caliber swing ...just worry about playing pro-caliber golf...take your time, practice swing, visual your shot..clear yoru mind... and hit the ball..

Like I said, I'm hitting 12/18 fairways on average, just having problems getting a little more distance. I remember when a commentator on the golf channel say during the US Open when Rocco Mediate and Tiger were going at it, that Rocco drives on average were only about 270 and he's a great golfer.

But I will agree, once hit a certain point in your game, it's all mental.

A 400-yard drive?  How do you find the ball?

I thought Jim Rice (the ballplayer) had the long drive record at one point. Have I disremembered this?
