Help me understand how it's okay to derive pleasure from inflicting fatal harm to other living creatures?
Although we do not absolutely have to eat meat, we do. The reasons why we eat meat - fish, fowl, beef, pork, etc - are countless and it's just accepted that humans eat meat.
In order to eat meat, we have to kill. Whether we do the killing ourselves or whether someone else does it for us, the animal is going to die at human hands. And the people who eat the meat are going to derive pleasure from it. I would think that most meat-eaters never give a second thought as to whether the persons responsible for providing the meat actually enjoyed the killing process.
Personally, I'm disgusted by slaughterhouse operations, but that's never caused me to turn down a steak.
Regardless of this woman's motivations, the end result is the same - an animal was slaughtered and people got to eat meat.
