Terry Funk once said that Vince McMahon was the most “hardcore” guy in the business because he is a billionaire who doesn’t have to get hit in the head with a chair, but does it anyway because he loves it.
Shane may do the crazy bumps because he loves the business, too.
But I think it also serves another purpose:
When he eventually runs the show many years from now, he can command some respect from his troops by pointing to these matches and saying, “Look! I did this stuff; I know what it’s like. So don’t give me any shit.”
In that respect, it kind of makes him like one of the boys.
And nobody can piss & whine with b.s. like, "You don't know what it's like being out there, brother..."
