Who is the "superstar" of the decade.?
« on: May 14, 2009, 09:07:59 AM »
I think you can make a case for a few guys. Triple H has been a main event fixture and has won over 10 wwe/world titles. Cena has been a main event fixture for over 4 years, has won several world titles and is their biggest current mainstream star. The Undertaker has won world titles and has put on great matches, especially since returning to his deadman gimmick. Edge has won almost 10 titles, although they have been short reigns, and has had several classic feuds. Honorable mention- Kurt Angle, Batista, Orton, HBK. Austin, Rocky and Foley were pretty much all done by 2003, so its hard to really include them.

I'd vote for HHH.

HHH sucks the big one.  I can't stand to watch him anymore.  He is just annoying as hell and that ring entrance of his is beyond lame.

You can't measure "superstar" by title reigns.  Which is better - 6 title reigns in 4 years, or 1 title reign that lasted 4 years.  I remember when title changes actually were big news.

HHH - regardless of what people say about him, he's worked hard and he's won everything he can.
Cena - tireless poster boy for the company, does whatever he's asked to do.
Edge - has come a long way since he joined the company.
Orton - has overcome his own failings to really begin to fulfill his potential.

Undertaker gets my vote.

He’ll always be the one guy people look forward to seeing – unconditionally.
Never developed any kind of “diva complex.”
Reliable and professional.
Cooperative.
Hard worker.
Phenomenal entertainer.

To me, he outshines the inconsistent/weak main event talent of today’s roster.

I say Stone Cold Steve Austin. Why? He paid his dues, wrestled the independants making gas money while eating noodle cans of tuna, wrestled in WCW and then fired and told that "he was going nowhere", wrestled in ECW for peanuts and finally when he came to the WWE, he came at a time when McMahon was getting crushed in the ratings by WCW and he pretty much put the WWE back on the map, saved the promotion by creating some new fans and he had a killer run.

Austin also took pro wrestling back to the mainstream after the old man “came clean” about the business, admitting it was a work after his ratings tanked around the early 90’s.

Remember that interview w/ Vince?
It aired – I think – shortly after the Montreal episode and just before the boom of the “Attitude” era.

The clip was on Youtube – you can probably find it.
I still remember watching it and thinking it was about time.
With Doink and Adam-Bomb, I really didn’t think that day would ever come.

Taker is right up there with Austin IMO. He always stuck around even when others defected to WCW. He was always a main event player and a feared leader backstage.

The Undertaker has three finishers now. Power Movements. He takes suicide dives. The greatest entrance ever. He's not my favorite by a long shot. But I've been watching him since before I had hair on my balls. The guy is awesome. For all around Greatest ever? If it's not him then who is it?

Greatest EVER? Man... There's a ton more guys than him... TONS

HBK is better, HHH is better, Flair, The Rock... I could probably go on.

In the past 10 years... It's either, The Rock, Austin, HBK, or HHH.

I thought "decade" would mean from 2000-2009?

During that time HHH has been a headliner for all 9 years, nobody outside Taker has.

Triple HHH was "blue blood"  and a mid card wrestler from 1996-1998 taking a back seat to michael's in the "Clique" faction. He then won the IC title and in 2000 came back repackaged as the "the game" with more muscle mass and a better charactor.
