The only roo meat I've seen in WA supermarkets is for dogs. I've met one guy in 10 years who ate roo and that's because he was a hunter. The piece he gave me was like chewing an old shoe.

Have you tried Alligator steak, Webcke? I heard you can get them in a lot of places in Oz, although I never thought of trying it back when I lived there.

Clearly, I know jack shit about the east. That's a pretty standard price for an allegedly nice restaurant in Perth and it almost always guarantees something unimpressive. Maybe everything just costs more in WA because of the isolation. Btw, if you're ever in Perth you have to eat at 'The Loose Box' in Mundaring. Nothing else out here gets my recommendation but that place is fantastic.

Yes, when we went on holidays to Uluru, the buffet there had all kinds of native meats. I had kangaroo, emu, crocodile, buffalo.

It certainly isn't common though. Hardly any butchers in Sydney would carry crocodile.

My aussies are plenty 'different' already.

I've only been to WA once, so don't know much about it. Went to the city obviously, but was there for my great grandfathers 100th b'day, so stayed at their place in Peppermint Grove.
