"boycots" are for idiots.  I make buying decisions on what is best for me - product quality, features, price, etc.  People who make buying decisions to make political statement are arrogant, self-important asswipes.

People who made buying decisions regarding cars didn't buy a GM in the first place.

Yeah, a friend of mine once said she wanted to boycott a certain gasoline stand chain, and drove a few miles to the next gasoline stand, but when i pointed out the other gasoline stand was actually getting the stuff from the same refinery and that the extra amount of gasoline she spended driving to the next gasonline station was a waste, the topic was off the table.

Boycotts are for idiots.

What about those commenting on those 'people who make buying decisions to make political statement [who] are arrogant, self-important asswipes?'   :D

Edit: What does that say about those that comment on those who comment!?   ;D

I would strongly consider a Ford at this point.  The company has made better decisions, didn't receive any bailout monies from the government and isn't going through a government guided bankrupcy.  The bond holders got screwed in this deal.

Have to admit Ford has come out okay- at least in comparison to the other big two. GM was first to restructure a few years back and Ford looked like they were behind, while Daimler was dumping Chrysler(wow, looking very smart now). Now you have small investors taking a bath and Fiat deciding Chrysler's fate. Basically if Fiat doesn't finalize the deal by the 15th then Chrysler could be liquidated. I don't know of a stronger bargaining chip than that, even with the US investors fighting it.

no one is getting paid $75/hour to work on an assembly line.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/24/opinion/main4630103.shtml

average pay is $28/hour, plus $10/hour in additional benefits.  The $70/hour comes from adding the total costs of all employees and retirees, then dividing it by the number of hours the employees work.

If you thought you'd heard the last of the Bush administration. Cheney recently admitted that they slid $17.4 billion to keep Detroit on it's feet long enough for them to slip out the door -ie. GM would declare bankrupcy on Obama's watch.   >:(
