Odds on how the captured US soldier will die?
« on: July 02, 2009, 08:55:34 AM »
Seeing as the Taliban and most Muslim extremists can't even spell "Geneva" let alone adhere to it, let's take bets on how his body is found.

1:1 Shot in the back of the head and showing signs of extreme torture
2:1 Beheaded and showing signs of extreme torture
100:1 Rescued
15000:1 Prisoner exchange

Well aren't you just a nice breath of fresh air. You're trying too hard with this gimmick.

beheaded...

I'm going to go with the bullet to the head. Seems that's how most of the captured soldiers in Iraq ended up.

Can't say this guy was too smart. Apparently left his outpost by himself and without any means of defending himself. I'd probably super glue my rifle to my hand if I was over there. Was probably going to stick it in some Afghan hooker.

hard to know... I'm not going to blame him.  He might have made a mistake, I dunno.  Hope he doesn't get the worst of the shit we're talking about.  Reality is that he probably will, but I hope not.

Politically, their best move to garner sympathy and support for their cause would be to keep him well and healthy and offer an exchange.  Or at least a humane confinement.

However, they are not exactly the most PC or well thought out group of idiots there.  So they will probably brutalize him to the point that more people are alienated by their ideals and such.

Compared to Muslim torture techniques, it's a vacation.

how about being slowly diped in boiling liquid until dead while family members watch.  That happened in the name of the War on Terror.

LOL. Let's see some proof of this. Post a video, not an article from someone recounting this either.

I don't see how that's any different than all the bodies they find around these torture chambers. Bodies of children with limbs amputated, women with their faces cut off, walls covered in blood, bloody swords, hooks hanging from the ceilings, electrical shock devices. Usually found in the basement of mosques, nonetheless.  ::)

I did, I posted it here a few years back.  I think I saw it on democracy now too.  I didn't say we did it, this happened in some of the interigations for us by others after 9/11.  I'm not sure there is a difference, depends on your perspective I guess.

I have a Q.

If one of our soldiers is waterboarded for 6 straight months...

Is he being tortured?  Yes or no?

I never saw it. Was probably before I made the political board my new trolling grounds.

I guess I'm indifferent to how other governments or other country's agencies interrogate. Better than us doing it. Boiling alive seems a little over the top for extracting information, though.

Is having your limbs amputated by a sword torture? Yes or no?

Yes, Saudis torture.

I posted that info, if I remember right, before we had the political board, in general.  I'll search and see if I can find it.  A lot of that got deleted from general but I did manage on having many of my threads moved here.

oh come on man....................  Jesus fucking christ, I've ran into plenty of rightwingers who even say their focus is obviously with left wing causes but very much acknowledge them as being legit.  I mean we could go all day and just divide sources and come up with a stalemant.  I do post stories from rightwing sources too you know. Yes, they do focus on leftwing causes, but they're not a bunch of hacks blogging...  The leftwing causes they dig into and the reporting done is done well and well researched.  I only wish the right had something like democracy now, fox ain't it.  If the right did, I promise, I would listen to them and take them serious.  Democracy Now is not Keith Olbermann so don't try to lump them.  Amy is good people.

actually this pisses me off a bit hereford.  I've actually ended up cutting out so many of my sources because of complaints like this.  Not because I had to but just because of the level of bitching about some sources, I end up spending time trying to find the same material from a source that won't get bitched about before I post it.  I've never had anyone nail me on Democracy Now.  I do believe you're the first.  If I can't post on material that I heard on Democracy Now, I freaking give up. ::)  Fuck... Dude I'm not degrading your point. I have tried on several occations to watch Democracy Now, and every time I watched it comes off to me as a bunch of smug neo-hippies whos end point is always to low-grade attack anything American or conservative. It's like Samson on Ritalin.

Maybe they DO research a little bit... but their end point always has a radical-left tilt to it.
