Just like to point out that whilst this may be true, the majority of the "convicts" were convicted of very pety crimes. The average convict wasn't a mass murderer or a serial rapist, more likely a man who stole a loaf of bread.....

That and the fact that i am not of any convict heritage. Not that it matters anyway. Many countries have less than ideal pasts, but we overcome them.....

Sydney: Great place to visit. Shit place to live.

Melbourne: Shit place to visit. Great place to live.

Rest of Australia falls in between. QLD is like Florida. Perth/Fremantle and Hobart is nice and scenic. Adelaide is a hole.

NEVER, EVER go to Canberra. That place is a hole.

New Zealand, either island(s).  Kind of reminded me of where I grew up, friendly people and smaller town attitude. Surfing not quite as good but it does have it's spots. Kind of like SOCal, surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon.

For extreme fornication, Aussie land. Girls gone wild by all means there.  A lot of those "convicts" that mother England brought over early were from debtor style prisons. Nothing hard core and also a lot the unforgiven poor. Lot's of Irish dumped over there. How England solved part of the Irish problem, other than starving them out. Glad to see England paying for her sin's now with the unoffical invasion on foreign nationals.

Webke is the man to talk about that. Sydney is more tourist friendly, but Melbourne has a better vibe and stronger nightlife. Place is turning into shit now though. You've just got to know where to settle.

I'm considering moving to Canberra for a line of work. Don't want to go. May as well be in hell...a cold, lifeless hell.

Just curious as to why you say Sydney is a shit place to live. You talking about real estate prices? Having lived ibn Sydney my whole life i can't really think of too many negatives about it. Sure there are some shit parts, but every city is like that.
No doubt about it...

I went to Australia before. Its a great place. They have a great sports institute that I trained at for a while. Excellent equipment and facitities and really nice people. We also went to the gold coast for a holiday after that. Nice beaches, hot chicks, some fun clubs. I would love to visit New Zealand some time and heard the people are very welcoming there.

One of my friends got harassed by a drunken local darkskin person though (native race called Aboriginals that were there before white people came there) within around 30 minutes after we arrived, but nothing too serious.

lol, gotta watch out for the abos.

Not really though, depends on where you go, but for the most part, the abos are out in the country.

Was the sports institute the one in Canberra (Australian Institute of Sport)?

Yes - the AIS in Canberra. I went for the weightlifting, but they have all sorts of facilities for different sports there. Very impressive.
