They use songs from well known bands/rappers like eminem etc. and then Sell the DVDs where the bodybuilders are posing to those copyrighted musics.

Isn't that copyright infringement to use somone elses music on your dvd? or even in your contest live.... Even bodybuilding.com is breaking copyright by having archived video footage with the music in it.

This is a live event run by an organisation using music that they do not own then recording the event and selling it on DVD and putting up archived video footage of it, that breaks copyright laws.

Playing a CD in your car does not break copyright law, recording yourself playing a cd in your car then putting it onto a public forum like youtube for example DOES break copyright law.

The only way they could avoid breaking copyright is by using classical music which was created before copyright protection was ever put into place. LoL.

If they do it right, they get a license for public playing at the show.
It's more complicated for DVDs, if you use music on a film, video, DVD, TV show, you have to get a "synchronization license". This term means you have gotten rights to use the music coordinated with images to relate a story.

You really think the IFBB goes to ask these gangster rappers if it's ok to use their music for bodybuilding DVD? haha

note: i never have and never will buy a bodybuilding dvd.

I love weight training, but thats about it, all the shows and dvd's are an absolute joke to me

You would still be infringing the copyright of the performer because although the music is in the public domain, the performance is not.
So the only way to avoid infringement of a Beethoven symphony would be to perform it yourself.

Word. The Purple One is obsessed to the point where ALL Prince videos on Youtube have NO AUDIO or have been taken down.
