I'm sitting here on midnight shift, and I was trying to look up the Yamaha R6 on youtube, and I find out my work has blocked it, it's considered R-rated! What the....

In your Internet Explorer, click "Tools", then "Internet Options", and then click on the "Connections" tab, click "Settings" and untick the Proxy server option. Works in a lot of cases

I though of that too, but it's unclickable. They have made it so I can't touch any of that crap. I'd use a proxy, but I've got in trouble for that in the past

Mine Too!!!! I check with one of my co-workers at another location, they can get Youtube. No Youtube, dailymotion,etc...

It has nothing to do with Communism. People abuse privileges and waste time at work by surfing the net when they should be working, so there's nothing wrong with blocking out sites such as YouTube. After all, you get paid to work and not browse websites. You can also make a case about the company losing money from data / bandwidth usage in situations where the employee(s) are just sitting idly at times (like helpdesks and such).

very few people would feel ok to sit all day watching youtube when they are payed to do something.

when the workload is lower and at times nothing to do, do you suggest sitting staring in front of you like a mindless drone, we are talking people here. they would feel and do better given responsibility under freedom.
