building schools, providing security to villages, protecting the rights of women and children, improving infrastructure, providing medical aid to rural areas, training the Afghan military and police . . .

when you go out for a patrol or a mission and children run to wave and give you thumbs up, you know you're making at least their world a better place

the Taliban threaten, beat, and kill Afghan's everyday and throw acid into the face of girls going to school

whether or not you agree with why we went to Afghanistan in the first place, the people deserve a life of peace and freedom, something they can never have with the Taliban in power

Again read a book...we didn't put the Taliban in power..the Taliban is a Pakistani/Saudi Arabian creation. They came to power in 1994 after the guys we backed, lost. We're there to clean up AQ, if the Taliban had turned him over or never give OBL a haven, we never would have gone there. BPJ is exactly right. As for owing, u idiots started this by bashing enlisted guys. Who will be running this country in 20 years, Vets, just like after Vietnam. Who the hell is doing that...nobody here has said combat is fun or cool...not even close. Well u see those guys who get all that training...do go work for Microsoft. How about Sub guys....u know those 19 or 20 year old idiots that manage to get through Nuke Power School and do as few cruises on a sub....they come out of the navy and make a fortune and thats before college.
