Wigss stop by our booth. We have 2 booths, we will be next to Ed Hardy.
Yes Robert does have a bright future ahead of him, he is only 30 years old.
He looks so big in person he looks like a fu%$# cartoon.Robert and I usually meet for lunch every couple of weeks to talk about biz, and his training. When he walks into any place people just stare, like they just seen an alien, its quite funny.
People aren't used to seeing someone that big, and he isn't fat lol.

I'll be there.

240, Dexter doesn't sell tickets, people know he is an asshole. full of himself.

First, I gotta say, if a fan has 2 options:  Reigning Mr O, or no guest poster, do you really think they'll prefer no poser?

Secondly, I don't know Dex.  He seems like a guy who just doesn't have a lot of patience - not a real 'people' person.  I can relate to that.  Some guys love sitting at booths shaking hands with strangers for hours.  Many don't.

240 please.... ::)  LeBron and Dexter? I get your point, but c'mon. One is a legitimate sport that generates billions a year and pays its athletes millions, takes place in state of the art venues, and it's stars are known worldwide. The other, well, you know. Shit, I'm amazed these fuckers even get 5k for strutting around "off season" for 3 minutes.

Comparing the NBA to the IFBB/NPC, is like comparing your local bingo game to a state lottery.

haha yeha i know that.

But I think no guest poser means you can't get 400 family members in an auditorium.  having Mr O means you can get maybe 1200 or 1500 ppl to show up (as long as an NPC show is included).

$8k does seem high, but if Dex can demand it, all the power to him.  I know I wouldn't fly across the country and get in a thong for strangers in Alaska for anything less than $2 or 3k, and I'm just a skinnyfat getbig poster.  Top Bber in the world, for all that trouble, would want more.

Wait... There is going to be an Ed Hardy booth? Oh, for fucks sakes!

I won't be in the house, yo. Thanks for asking. I'll be at the ASC as far as what big shows I'll be attending. I remember seeing Robert. He's a true sick freak.

he is recognized by less than .05 % of the American public
Yeah, you may be right about the percentage of the general population that he is recognized by. That by itself doesn't mean a damn thing. When you talk bodybuilding, anywhere in the world, Mr. Olympia stands at the forefront.  Contest promotors are not looking to pull in those people with no interest in Bodybuilding. They have a target audience and out of that target audience how many do you think know who Dexter is?????????  $8,000.00 should be easily recouped by any promotor with a show big enough to warrent Mr. Olympia as a guest poser. If not, then they need to call one of you guys and pay you to guest pose. I'm betting they could get off a lot cheaper.

If he is Mr. Olympia and doesn't need to do guest posings for a living, why not ask for $8k?

I think he guest poses and I'm pretty sure he's getting paid. What makes you think he's not getting 8k?

If you cant be nice to the fans don't be a bodybuilder. When I am at an expo, and someone wants to talk to me or take a picture, I'm polite to them. If it wasn't for the fans there wouldn't be an audience, without a audience you have any empty room.

I want to thank all bodybuilding fans, and people who support our industry. Your the reason bodybuilders, can train, and get paid to do what they love doing. You know how many times people have talked to me and was shocked that I wasn't arrogant, and I was soft spoken and polite. Just because your a bodybuilder doesn't give you the right to be an asshole. People want to except bodybuilders, but with people like Craig Titus, how can they? Bodybuilding should be looked as a positive sport, not a bunch of drugged up losers.

Bodybuilding is about building your body, and mind, so you evolve as a person.

Cos there are much better, more entertaining to the fans, more marketable, taller bodybuilders out there
Im just being honest Pat,Dexter would never enter my mind when I would be looking for a guest poser
For me Victor,Kai or Phil will be on the wishlist for here next year, then Evan maybe the following year
We had Wolf last year and Branch Warren was in another Part of Ireland this year

It's rather unfortunate that - as a bodybuilding fan - I cannot tell the difference between him and 'that guy who looks like Dexter Jackson'.  The resemblance is creepy.  If I were Dexter, I'd have the other guy moved to Russia.

Great post.

What the top guys now have to realize is that there are more eyes on them than ever before and their actions can impact the future success of the bodybuilding culture.

I know that bodybuilding is a very self-centered activity, but in the interest of self, a bodybuilder has to think about the wider implications of his/her actions.  Sucking it up and spending time with the fans when you'd rather be sleeping or doing something else is the way you make sure the impact you have is positive.  You may not see the day when pro bodybuilders are making millions a year, but maybe your children or grandchildren will.  Wouldn't it be nice to have played some small role in that?

not all people are "people persons".  Maybe dex is very shy.  Maybe he is just a private person.  Maybe he gets tired of "how much ya bench", "can I feel your arms", and "bro, between us, what is your steroid stack like!?"

Yes, if a supp company is paying him to shake hands and take pics, that's his job.  But outside of that, his job is to show up with the best physique in the world and hit poses when told.

A story:

Back in 1993, a former gym owner of mine was putting on the local BBing contest in San Francisco. He was looking to hire a guest poser. He looked at a few different guys to pose, and two of the guys he looked at were Flex Wheeler and Dorian Yates.

Flex finished 2nd in the Olympia that year, and obviously Yates placed first. Keep in mind this is the year that Yates had his extreme transformation.

Flex wanted 10k to guest pose, and Yates wanted 7k. Back in 1993. I don't care if he's Flex Wheeler or not....for a second place finisher to ask for 3k more than Mr. Olympia himself seems like a cad move.

Youngblood, which bodybuilder did your friend choose?

One point here is that Flex might have a huge soCal following.

if Flex won the show, and yates placed second... I could see a UK show promoter getting more value from local O-runner-up yates, rather than some dude from the other side of the world who beat him by 2 points in the final.

Dexter isn't arrogant or  full of himself.
