I finally have the photos I took in Melbourne in March of the 2009 Australian Pro won by Kai Green. I posted the photos at a size that will allow everyone to examine up close the condition of the athletes. Kai sure knows how to isolate his muscle groups and his transitions are nothing short of an anatomy display. When he is on stage it is difficult to look at anyone else. Silvio shows a very ripped physique but you would never know it from most of his poses. Examine his serratus area and see the paper thin skin there. The light was very harsh and I dare say using too much oil spoiled the impact of several of the guys.

I was way up in the balcony using a telephoto lens on a tripod. I needed a faster shutter speed to freeze the action. I used a Nikon D300 and 70-300VR lens. Next year I will use my 5DMkII.

I used Lightroom 2 to retrieve a more accurate white balance but I made the photos darker to highlight the muscles better. There are over 200 photos there to look at. You can hold your cursors over the far right of the photos to select the size you wish to view them. You can also select 'Slide Show' and sit back and watch the photos fill your screen.

Here is my favourite shot from that contest. I have posted it on Smugmug in a separate album there at the original size which is about 6 Mb. Anyone with a home gym can get a poster printed from the original.

How come they reversed the negative on the 1980 arnold shot... he never did that pose with his left arm

My favourite building in Melbourne, the Eureka Tower. You can go up to the top to look around. Quite the sight from up there.

I was surprised when someone pointed this out to me. Editors do that to fit the photo in with headers, etc.

Lee Priest was popular with his Aussie fans. He was still training even with that cast and was handling 120 lb dumbbell with his good arm/shoulder!

Luke told me he is training for the Australian Pro 2010. It is impossible for a bodybuilder to be around contests and not get the urge to compete again.

The Aussie fans know quality when they see it. Kai had a long line of fans waiting patiently to buy his photos. The line to see him was longer than the combined ones for everyone else! That was a surprise. He was very popular with the fans. I didn't stay for the finals but he wowed the audience at the judging. They didn't need judges to know who the winner was.
