Sorry to break it to you, you weren't born yet I guess... but what "created" what you know as the "internet" today was preluded by a massive deregulation by the FCC; allowing Telcos to then sharing sub networks and amortize the costs in join ventures and / or "rent" from each others. This lead to a boom in telecom equipment, add the boom in PC to that, then cellular technologies (also a consequence of the deregulation)... then the .com boom peaked in march 2000... all a consequence of G Bush's 1991 deregulation..

you think the 90's economy was only from internet expansion? much more complicated than that. and while your right about the general sequence of events there for internet... what your missing is that there would be no internet without PC, and there would be no PC without american innovation.... regardless of however much deregulation the government pushed....   

now that being said you can certainly make an argument for deregulation boosting short term indicators of a strong economy, however that is very different than saying it can boost actual markers of a healthy top and bottom to the economy, and not to mention on the long term.

Obama is a smart guy, but instead of the centrist uniter he campaigned as, we got a prez who is allowing the left wing of the congress to dictate bills and policy.  Obama, his administration and the power dems in congress believe in big government expansion and big gov programs & solutions.  They are expanding our debt to amounts we have never seen.  Not only expanding government jobs, expanding entitlement programs, continuing to spend crazy amounts in the war in Afghanastan, continuing bailouts for banks, wall street, auto industry and other big companies, the huge stimulus package and setting up 10 years of budget deficits to get some of his pet programs enacted.  Those are my main problems with him.  I know his intent is good but he's bankrupting us...just like Bush started.
