NPC and IFBB Woman's bodybuilding should be revamped. They should kill it for a year and not restart till 2011. Under the new regulations, women would be judged on muscularity to a certain degree, feminimity and posing would play a big part. Women that look like Iris would have a chance in hell of winning the show. That abomination should be ashamed for what she did to her body and Chad Nichols is the reason women are like this for ushering in his wife back in the 90's resembling a dried Autumn leaf.
The biggest women's show is so pathetic it can't garner enough support to stand on its own. It's in the Expo showroom and even then at any time you have a maximum of 250 - 350 people actually paying attention.
The IFBB and NPC gain nothing from keeping it around if it's not changed.
I agree that it needs to DIE for a few years before anything will really change, needs time to 'clean itself out' ..re-vamp things & revert back to a more natural look for the woman. Drug testing would be an excellent start...making all the womens events 'natural' ..or simply not rewarding someone with any visible androgenic side effects.
Iris is simply a genetic freak.. (like Ronnie) shes probably on less than half of the stuff most other pro & nat'l level FBB are on.. just a guess. -but, thats the look thats being rewarded time and time again, so most of them follow suit.(the genetically less-gifted trying to keep up by using more and more drugs
) Its a vicious cycle. Im not sure who is to blame..the judges or the women? Did the chicken or the egg come first
Ultimatly the responsiblility falls on the woman themselves as no one pointed a gun to their head... the ones who were smart got outta the game altogether when things started to progress
too muchEarly to mid 90s were the peak of womens bodybuilding IMO. Watch the 1994 Ms Olympia (was on ESPN!!!)..it needs to go back to that look in order to gain the popularity that it once had. ..although it will always be a niche
