i'll try a new angle with you Matthew.  I won't treat you like a gorilla.

Here's the criteria for the Nobel Peace Prize:
According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."[1]
(Alfred Nobel, from Wikipedia)

Can you describe to me how Obama qualifies for the Prize according to the above?

Also, the nomination process was February 1st.  That was 10 days after Obama took office.  Can you tell me how he managed to accomplish the above quote in order to qualify for the Peace prize in 10 days?

Taking ur own racial prefjudice out of the equation, can u tell me why you think he DOESN'T deserve it?
Only a fool would claim he is not deserving.

He brought the nation and the world together to try and better this world we live in.  He inspired millions of people!. And its more based on what he plans to do in the future, is their reasoning behind giving it to him.  And also to stick to Bush because they hated him :D

Only a fool would claim he is not deserving.

because, as i said, the nomination deadline was February 1st.  He took office on the 15th or 20th of January (don't remember, don't feel like looking it up).  I am convinced he's done nothing in those 10-15 days to deserve the Nobel peace prize.  Especially not anything that would meet this criteria:

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."[1]

Can you make me a quick list of what he's done in those first 10 days that qualifies him for that?

Also, what in my post made you think I'm racially prejudiced against him?

Um, no he didn't.  If he brought the nation together, we'd all agree with him on healthcare, for example.  He brought the world together?  Can you give me some facts or is this just your opinion?

He inspired millions of people!

Inspired them to do what?  Give me one example of someone accomplishing something and crediting Obama as his/her inspiration.

And its more based on what he plans to do in the future, is their reasoning behind giving it to him.
This is the first time EVER that i've heard of someone getting a prize for something they PLAN on doing, instead of doing it.

Quote
And also to stick to Bush because they hated him :D[\quote]
I agree 100% and think this is the ONLY reason he got it.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded 89 times to 119 Nobel Laureates between 1901 and 2008 – 96 times to individuals and 23 times to organizations. Since International Committee of the Red Cross was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1917, 1944 and 1963, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954 and 1981, that means 96 individuals and 20 organizations have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In that case, why not award me the 2008 Olympic gold medal in weightlifting?  I plan to win it in the future anyway... so I deserve to be given it now!

OBAMA=2009 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNER!!!!!!!

Though I am not a Republican, it seems you are short sighted on why P-BO received a Peace Prize.. He has done nothing since he has been elected. He was given this gift due to the fact that he gave a speech that had a few words about Nuclear disarmament and World Peace.. Making a Speech and doing it is two different things. P-BO has weakened this nation more than any other President in the recent past.. Carter being the exception... Bad thing is P-BO has 3 more years to winning another award.. It is called " The worst President of the United States"...

1) Obama is about to settle Afghanistan with diplomacy - giving the taleban a voice in the govt (as cheney/bush recommended mind you).  Al-Q is dead... headhunter even confirms that.  he'll give them a voice, they put down guns.  Russia should have done it - and Bush said we'd do it.  This is why the pentagon is pissed - O is giving signs he wants peace without a surge and 150k permanent troops (the way Bush ended iraq... permant occupancy)

2) Maybe Obama can prevent iran nukes, either thru sanctions or precision strikes which limit their ability to F up the region with nukes, keeping the region safer.

3) Maybe obama can scale back world nuke stockpiles....

If he does any of these - he deserves it.  If he doesn't, then he doesn't.    This award was like giving the smart kid a report card with Straight A's on the first day of school.  He's motivated not to blow it, if only to save face, but even Obama admits he doesn't deserve the award.

Sorry 240,

I can't agree with your post. Giving the Taliban a voice as a legitimate government is not the way to go.  I am glad you have more faith in Obama. Maybe you can have faith in him for the both of us. I feel he is way in over his head.
