Again I don't think its a personal attack on him as much as its people sick of the extreme activism by organizations like the Nobel organization or the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Look, they changed the rules to allow Gore to win 2007, then they explicitly state this to help Obama gain momentum.
Its not award then, but a statement of support.

I really don't think this helps or hurts Obama, but really lessen the prestige of the peace prize.

Regardless both Nevil Chamberlain and Carter won the prize.
While Ghandi never did.

Oh please. I said in 240's thread when he posted that Obama was giving the money to charity that it was very noble of him. As a person, I'm sure he's a great guy, and giving away $1.4 million is a real testament to character. But he didn't earn this award, he beat out people who are truly deserving and giving an award like this to somebody for what they say they want to do is...well...you really can't see a problem with that?

thats exactly right, what the ppl ok with this seem to not realize is HE DOESNT DESERVE IT this is simply a political bull shit move

he would have gotten more respect from ppl here in america and all over the world if he would have politely declined and explained that if and when he is awarded one in the future he wants it to be on his merits...

obviously he doesnt have the merits as of right now.

There is a big difference between being a conservative and republican, I voted 3rd party in the last election, because as a conservative Obama and McCain represent everything that I am against with every fibre of my being.

wait, this all depends. If we're saying "what if Bush got the prize at 9 months into his first term with nothing to show for it" It's at least equally absurd. If Bush got this prize after knowing the fruits of this full presidency, I'm going to call it way more absurd. What the hell is your point? I'm still not getting it.
