Author Topic: Brock Lesnar Pulls Out of UFC 106 Title Fight With Shane Carwin (Read 9168 times)

Kevin Iole has the story:

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news to Yahoo! Sports. White said Lesnar has been ill for more than three-and-a-half weeks and unable to train. With the bout at UFC 106 less than a month away, Lesnar was forced to postpone the title defense.
"He said he's never been this sick in his life," White said. "He said it's been going on for a long time and he just hasn't been able to shake it."

Dana White is having a terrible autumn. Between Rampage Jackson walking out on UFC 107, the ugly outcome of the UFC 104 headliner, and this it really looks like someone's voodoo curse on the UFC has taken hold.

That or the UFC would rather save Lesnar vs Carwin for their New Year's Eve card.

man that is a bummer but i can understand as much as yall that iff you are out for almost a month it wouldnt even be fair for the oppenant of course carwin wants the win but surely he wants to beat the best lesner can bring...... and on the other hand i am glad it is postponed beacause i am in mexicon and i wouldnt have been able to see and enjoy the match

Out of curiosity, if Brock Lesnar has been that sick for this long, why did he seem not only in really good spirits but also an honorary Minnesota Viking blowing the horn before the Vikings-Ravens game on Oct. 18th. This was only one week ago.

I saw the video and I will concede he did not look sick. Having said that, I’m not his doctor, nor do I have access to his medical records. His management insists he’s been very sick and his training partners have concurred. I asked Dana White and he said he hadn’t seen the video. He said Lesnar called him Monday, which is the first he found out about the illness, and said he couldn’t make it. White further said Lesnar told him he is not sure if he could fight in January. I asked if Lesnar sounded ill when they spoke and he said no. White said he had breakfast with Lesnar in Las Vegas about a month ago and said Lesnar told him at that time he wanted to fight frequently. Something doesn’t add up here and this bears further watching.

I think Brock knows he's going in there against someone his own size and strength... and that freaks him out a little. And knowing the Carwin hasn't seen round 2 (i.e. he's got some serious KO power).

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but something about this is a bit fishy. Going into the second week of illness wouldn't you want to go to a doctor and get a diagnosis and be treated.

Plenty of fighters fight sick. Fighters are always injured or ill and they still take their fights. Hell, Ken Shamrock fought with a torn ACL. A torn ACL! And now this guy can't fight because he has the sniffles? Please. Arona fought in Pride with the flu and even took an IV earlier in the day he was so dehydrated. This isn't anything new. Brock = pussy.

I'd rather see someone postpone a fight and fight later at 100% than watch him lose and wonder "what if". Like the Mir/Nog fight, Nog claimed to be sick, he should have postponed it and maybe Mir wouldn't have beat the fuck out of him.
