Lets not exclude the fact it was 2,000 years ago, people (believe it or not) did not know better or were actually dumber than they are now and wanted something to believe in. Throw in some insecure fucks with a need to control others and bang, some scrolls came up and many humans have pretty much been held back from their potential for the better part of 2,000 years. I'm not so sure that people are any smarter today than they were back then. Sure, *we're* smarter, but what about the billions who are just as gullible?
Even accounting for churches that update their teachings to account for the times, the fact that people still believe the fairy tales is mind-blowing.
