They didnt have the diet nor training knowledge back then that we have.

Plus they were on average shorter - therfore a 17" arm was significantly bigger - relatively. Mine are I think are 19" pumped. i am almost 6'4 though. A true 17" arm on a 5'10 guy look very large but by no means is it astounding or breathtaking.

They ate healthier food than we do. They understood their bodies better than we do. There are no secrets in training.Truth = there were some big, impressive guys, but they were always on the fatter side, surprise surprise.

They had no unprocessed foods etc - they ate much less. Protein was expensive etc.

Same thing applies here. Grimek and Ross etc. were the very few people of that era that were even into weight lifting and they were local guys discovered by some fag photographer.

Fast forward to 20 years later....Arnold is from Austria, Sergio is from Cuba. Now you have a world wide talent pool and the bar gets raised much higher.

And it applies right here too. If it wasn't for the net none of us would know the other person existed

many fail to realize that simply a back double bicep shot is not an indicator of someone being superior

because fact is if you train back and arms like crazy youll have those big muscle groups and lack in others or have a fat stomach, another fact is its very difficult to have all muscles stand out and pumped up, i can spend day after day hitting back and arms and they may look great but i also risk the chance of having a fat face and losing overall conditioning while my back may look ripped and other bodyparts fat, many times we are just tredding water and redistributing fat and not getting anywhere case in point

also carbs fill you out like no other but i could never eat them consistently because the carbs put you on the constant brink of fat gain

the first pic is definitly right after a pump and home back workout with 40 pound dumbells

with no pump but better overall fitness but lack of back and arm training
