You guys may like making fun of Sampson, but he's being very reasonable. This IS experimental. And goodness knows we have a track record of experimental technology acting in very unpredictable ways. Yes, we've made huge leaps forward, but there have been some collossal screw ups. The Tesla explosion, the Philadelphia experiment etc., etc., and countless others we were never even informed about. There is reason to be cautious and measured in our approach to this.

If they screw up... they at least have an out. They can spin it by letting the fundies call it the rapture.  :P

This isn't exactly reassuring.

FROM NASA:
"Still, a key mystery remains. Where did the black hole come from? For that matter, where do any super-massive black holes come from? There is mounting evidence that such "monsters" lurk in the middles of most galaxies, yet their origin is unknown. Do they start out as tiny black holes that grow slowly, attracting material piecemeal from passing stars and clouds? Or are they born big, their mass increasing in large gulps when their host galaxy collides with another galaxy?"

Samson is trying to drive towards that large black holes originate from tiny black holes that eat up matter and get bigger...

hence giving credence to his "mini black holes will end planet earth" idiocy
lol Toxic owning the conspiracy theorist with hard facts. Ouch!
As empty as paradise

No, you are using flawed logic combined with a lack of knowledge.  Because it IS experimental that means there is a great danger?  How many other things are experimental?  We've all watched too many disaster movies.  You assume people aren't being cautious yet solid science and the scientific community shows there isn't any danger.  You think with the millions invested and thousands of scientists that they aren't being safe?  Did you read the article?  Unless the laws of physics completely change there isn't any chance these mBH's or Strangelets will appear.

All this is, is people writing articles to feed on fear for profit.

I linked a page in the last thread about this that contained links to PUBLISHED ARTICLES refuting the notion that any of the potential blackholes that could form would be dangerous. Good to know that our resident "super intellect" team hasn't taken the time to read anything regarding this collider and thinks they know what they're talking about. The most accomplished scientists in the world apparently don't know jack shit.  ::)

Samson, the only one who's gonna blow up is BerzerkFury when he sees you've started this thread.  :D

Not going to blow up. It doesn't surprise me that he's incapable of reading scientific articles that are published in reputable journals and regarded as legitimate by the world's foremost physicists. The CT sites that Samson frequents aren't too keen on science and reason and surely won't link to these articles. He's the very sheeple he despises.

It's funny how pathetic most people are. The end of the world is here!!!!!!!!!!!  ::)

They could not make fun of me Jag if their lives were dependent on it. I like the fact that they can not think beyond the length of their arm... and if anything I am having the last laugh on them. American scientist are like american doctors and pharmaceutical companies...they speak with assuredness on everything and say WE HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT...WE KNOW THE END RESULTS... WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING and no sooner are the words spoken does trouble come and they are lost for words and reasons why. These knuckleheads on this board put WAAAAAAY too much trust in science believing all of the answers have been discovered only to find out otherwise later on.

I wonder how many of them are going to take the SWINE FLU shot being that the scientist and doctors say IT IS SAFE?

But, but, the guy living in his parent's basement must know the truth. He graduated high school and has access to a computer!

I think we should still try to avoid the 1 in 1 trillion chance that the hardon collider will create a massive blackhole on earth. In fact, we should probably stop doing anything at all in fear that it might create a massive blackhole.

Maybe you should do everything you ever wanted to just in case the black hole is formed!!!... Nothing worst than realizing your about to die and realizing you HAVEN'T DONE SHIT IN YOUR LIFE...

- Science once said the world was flat...
- People believed children came from Storks
- Many still believe in Santa
- Science believes there is no GOD and that things just hapened to fall into place and formed life and all that
   is needed to sustain it
- Scientist even claim men went to the moon...uh huh!  Yes they did!

You've really gone off the deep end, Samson.

- Science once said the world was flat...

No that was ignorant superstition saying that.  Kind of like people now who are saying the world will end if we turn on the collider.

Quote

- People believed children came from Storks

Never.  Nor can you back that up with any credible fact.

Quote

- Many still believe in Santa

Only children.  Exercise some common sense.

True and I agree.

Quote

True and it happened.  In fact, Hugo conclusively proved this and closed the case on the matter.  You're a day late, and a dollar short.

Is this your attempt to show that superstition is far often correct over science?

Science or religion said the world was flat?  Do your research.

I wouldn't be surprised if you believed children came from storks.

Fact is, this is another sad assertion of yours gone bad only highlighting your deeply ingrained ignorance.

Beep Beep, Moonbot.

you guys never answered my questions.

I don't know shit about this.  so you're saying black holes don't grow past the size they were created?

This isn't exactly reassuring.

Some of you seem to strangely almost have a religious faith in science.  "just trust them. they are smarter than you. they know what they're doing. they wouldn't do anything to harm us." much of that has over and over turned out to be not true through the years.

Were you doing the same thing when you used scary movies to support caution for the HC?
