Repped 4 plates a side squat for the first time today.
« on: November 25, 2009, 02:47:29 PM »
At one stage I was capable of it before but never done it. Today I done it on my last and heaviest set.

Also pulled a 500lb+ dead after all my work sets.

Sorry for being an attention whore just felt good to be reasonably strong again and injury free.

I took vids. The squat looks a bit high. I assure you it is not it is just the angle etc.

Feeling sore on lower back and quads now, but in a good way.

Four 5 pound plates per side isn't really anything to be proud of.  Probably should have kept this little "feat" to yourself.

benchpress?

Hell no, weighted deep knee bends.

I know it is nothiong special as I am 240+ lbs but I was happy and pleased after being littered with injuries for ages.

Try some slow paced bodyweight squats for size, flexing throughout

You have the type of legs that would respond well to this

If it's not parallel to the ground it's not a full squat. Did you do a partial rep?

It was a combination of lbs and kg plates - It was an irregular number. It was also a thick bar with no bend in it at all.

512lbs or something like that. Had a fair bit more in me.

Nope def a full rep. The camera angle was lower than parallel so it looks higher.

Not bad going on the 500lb deadlift  8) Due to my crap lower back and reasonably short arms I've never been able to pull 5 plates.

Good stuff.

Why did you never attempt it before when you were injury free?

Keep the progress up and head for the 200kg mark.

Thanks for kind words.

I never done it before as I got injured. Then I never let it heal and for 8-10 months I was littered with back injuries niggle's etc so never bothered.

Here is the vid of dead. This was after all my squats and then all my work sets of deadlifts. Doesn't look 'piss easy' but felt very comfortable. The bar has no bend or give and it genuinely a dead weight.

looking really strong, congrats.  good form, it was impressive that when you were doing the deadlifts you didnt let the weight fall down to the floor. The 500 pound lift looked really easy to me.  Really good job there keep up the good work.

I would say that being injured for 8+ months is 'ages'. Maybe I should have been more specific.

I was trying to squeeze it off the ground and accelerate instead of ripping it like hell. Was trying to keep good form. My gym is on the 3rd floor and there is a soilicitor's office below so thats how we deadlift in my gym have to control it down aswell lol - no rubber weights either. Thanks again mate
