Pong!

Totally changed the game!

Before Pong, kids had to actually get a physical item such as a ball or frisbee and do this weird and socially uncomfortable thing called 'making friends' to be able to play with someone.

Once Pong came on the scene, everyone realized balls were gay and friends are even gayer.

I'm a fucking nerd. I love all the shit on the NES, but the glory days were when SNES and Genesis were the big hits. I remember all the amazing side scrollers and RPGs. Big RPG fan... the Playstation had great hits and then the only emulation and translation scene got huge in early 2000. Even BETTER SNES and 16-bit console RPGs got translated and I blew my load over that shit.

Nowadays there aren't so many great games. Too many FPS games... I traded in my shitty XBOX 360 for a PS3 and haven't been disappointed. Best next gen game IMO is Batman Arkam Asylum... holy shit. This game is fucking mint. It's a little linear but there are a lot of side quests/tasks to keep you busy. Absolutely wicked game.

Playing Uncharted 2 right now and it's awesome as well, but not as polished as Batman AA. I hate running into invisible walls and fumbling around with the controls, but it's otherwise right up there. Waiting to bust my load over Final Fantasy 13. If I'm not juicing I'll probably shrink down 15lbs, lock myself in the house and play it every waking hour that I'm not eating or at work.

street fighter II, great game. I loved it, beat it with almost all the characters-I think the only one I couldn't beat it with was Dhalisam or however you spelled his name. Street Fighter II alpha was pretty awsome as well.

I've been playing video games since Pong in 1976.

There have been several games that really added new dimensions to game play that
were ahead of their time...

my favorite of all time is Doom...

World of Warcraft (RTS version), Doom for PC, Sega MLB, Axis & Allies, Mario Kart for N64, Star Wars BF2 for PC and War Games for PC (played for days against a friend over 56K modem) but family kept using the phone and disconnecting the game so had to play from 1:00am on!

Anyone remember that old school "game" that you just ran and it leveled your character automatically?

It was floating around the internet around 1998-2000.
