Masculinity Crisis - "Tough Guise".
« on: December 03, 2009, 03:12:20 PM »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP1ACIUHhp4

I watched this documentary and it made me cringe.  According to this documentary, the reason why men act masculine is because of social conditioning.  At no point in this video do they say anything about genetics which is by far the greater component involved.  It must also a social construct that the fastest and strongest human beings on the planet are all men.  ::)  Oh, and higher levels of endogenous testosterone and other hormones are also social constructions.  ::)

Oh, can anyone help me become as strong as Mariusz Pudzianowski and as muscular as Ronnie Coleman?  I also want to be as aggressive as Mike Tyson.  After all, it's just a matter of social conditioning right?  It's not like it's 80% genetic or anything.  ::)

Our test and aggressiveness came first, then the social construct to define what is masculine to promote those attributes.

behavior is both genetic and environmental. while it is wrong to say masculinity is due solely to culture, its also wrong to say it is only due to genes.

The commentator in the film addressed race with the same vague methods as those who talk about race and IQ.  He said that white kids copy black street thugs who in turn are copying white Italian mobsters as they appear in film, lol.  What a vague bunch of shit.

Apparently society just randomly formed "somehow" which sends men messages to be more aggressive than women.  But what made society create such gender roles if not genetics to begin with?

The whole documentary is ridiculous.

Had a class where it was shown that a lot of the products we use, like lotion has estrogen compounds in it. But American Society has deemed that Masculinity is evil, and women acquiring more wealth, better jobs and lack of dependance on  men also helps as well. The feminist movement deems that men stop being masculine by curbing aggresive behavior and controlling (agree with the controlling part) and that women should not be submissive to men. So who is the "submissive" in today's relationships?

The feminist movement was only great at getting more women in the workforce.  Did it really do anything to help women?

Hahaha love that image - perfectly shows the huge degree of feminization of a lot of the "males" in the current generation (teens and 20s). No wonder we've got some of them here making gay poses and saying that's their idea of having fun ::)

You've got to really love the "Emo" fags who are built like females and dress up to look like them on top. Good thing we've still got Getbig to trash them to our satisfaction ;D

Man is not defined by genetics, genetics is defined by man.
It's just a biological aspect, not an explanation.

Tell me about it.  I have to give Ron credit for letting men actually act like men on here to a greater degree than any other board on the internet today.  And here's the fact: what is being said on this site is EXACTLY what everyone on other boards are thinking but wouldn't dare say due to this ridiculous politically correct agenda.  The way I see it, what is said on getbig is roughly a reflection of what people are actually thinking, contrasted with musclemayhem for example where you would literally have to kiss the asses of every veteran member and all pros.  Getbig speaks the truth.

Yes. And the best part is that Getbig as a system / community doesn't let any bullshit or PC nonsense fly, even if one or more of the individual members lay that crap on the boards and try to get away with it at times.

Homosexuality is rising and trying to use the media to brain wash people in order to make heteros look like retards and homos look like modern and correct.

Kudos to Ron!

I was recently banned from a female board for asking "Why" after some idiot claimed racism over an innocuous comment.

The civil rights movement's sole purpose was to help white women. It just wasn't possible to change their status without addressing black people first. Without creating some parity for women they wouldn't have stayed in the workforce to such an extent and escalated the cost of living.

Talk about missing the point   ::)

What they are talking about has nothing to do with the size of a guys muscles or how strong he is. There are little 135lb twinks who act like tuff guys and go off doing violent stuff.  A fu#ked in the head midget can do plenty of damage in various situations, publicly or domestically.
