Yet another remake where they take all the naive lameness of the original (a massive factor in making a cult movie), suck it out and think that the poorly conceived story which sucked 20 years ago, can stand on its own. Add in a good old fashioned, no class, hiphop injection and you've got a 3/10'er.

I wonder how many people would flock to see a white version of shaft? Some characters are racially set in stone. Who the hell wants to watch a budding romance for a 10 year old kid? That angle is out the window, too.

Hopefully the makers will suffer financially. Once again, the talentless reign supreme in hollywood.

I agree that these remakes are getting rather tedious. Its sad that all these "hollywood" writers can't come up with a fresh concept without relying on past material.

The new generation(this would include new script writers) are a bunch fucking dummies with 4 min attention spans! None of them can write so of course they have to do old scripts over and over again. The sub 25 year olds I work with write and spell like they're 12. Dumb asses write like they're texting.

This isn't a movie a dude goes to see by himself or a date..this is a movie meant to take your kids, nephews/nieces to see...not a whole lot of kid friendly movies out there so its nice to be able to take them out.

The first mistake was not calling it 'The MMA Kid'. Just think of how many Tapout-Afflicted teens would flock to see this if instead of 'taking jacket off', Miyagi had him doing 'Rear Naked Pokes'.
