Tea Party planning national strike
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:54:42 PM »
As President Barack Obama's first year in office draws to a close, Tea Party groups are planning to mark the occasion with a national strike - something local leaders say could demonstrate the conservative groups' burgeoning strength.
The strike, planned for Jan. 20, the first anniversary of Obama's inauguration, is being promoted online through Facebook and Web sites run by various national Tea Party groups.

"What's proposed is a nationwide strike by all Tea Party members, no matter where they are," said Lloyd Rekstad, an organizer of the Yucaipa Tea Party. "The idea is to strike where we are, in our communities, at our employment, to make an impact that will be diverse and spread out."

That would mean, Rekstad said, not going to work, not buying groceries, not going to restaurants or movie theaters.

"You just stay home," he said, "so that the person participating would become, for that one day, a nonentity - that they would give no support to the economy."

I'm sure fox will come up with some phony numbers. They will interview a few lowlifes, then claim they have had a crippling effect on the economy and that Democrats must now "listen" to them.

Business owners are already boycotting this communist asswipe in case you have not realized it.

I'm saying that if you're not going to partake in the economy then you better not be using electricity, running water or any things of the sort as those cost money.

Have fun staring at your wall all day.

BF -  The obamabots may no want to hear this, but buisinesses are not going to hire anyone until obama is  gone or he reverses course on 99% of hs agenda.  That is a silent boycott that you are not hgearing about.

Yeah, yeah. I get that. All I'm asking is whether or not one will be using things like electricity during this day-long boycott.

Given the huge global warming we are having, most people would probably freeze rght now the way things are unless they chop wood and burn it.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

"You just stay home," he said, "so that the person participating would become, for that one day, a nonentity - that they would give no support to the economy."

Using electricity costs money and contributes to the economy. Anything short of sitting in the dark or reading a book in the cold is hypocritical. I assume these people want to prove their point and will be contributing NOTHING to the economy for a day?

Going on strike to derail the economy... what a very socialist thing to do?
The TeaBaggers are beginning to sound like a socialist labour union.

An illegal strike in an era of high unemployment... bet they won't find plenty of people to take their place.
Good Luck with that, ...let me know how it works out for ya.  ::)

Oh they'll be contributing all right. The minute they don't show up for work, they'll be handed a pink slip and they can contribute greater numbers to the economy's unemployment figures.

Don't be such a fool 333386. The very people who organize these tea-baggers are the business leaders themselves. This is just an easy way for them to chop their payrolls and hire up additional workers for less. What a bunch of suckers!

the businesses that will be hurt are the Furr's Cafeterias, and Dollar General Stores. All their customers will be home that day.  Sad day for Bingo Parlors, too.

Oh please you jackass.

Most of the people I know who go to these things are small business owners or work for small buainesses whose ability to generate income is being threatened by this thieving govt.

Until and unless this idiotic admn switches gears asap, there will be no recovery or improvement.

Im not for a boycott like this, but believe that small business owners like myself refuse to take any further risks in this political and economic envoironment unless and until we know what else the govt is going to do to "help" up.

When I say help, I mean that sarcastically as the govt only destroys and steals from some to give to others.  That is what the govt does, it takes from A to give to B.

The people in the A group are basically telling the Govt to fuck off.  And rightly so.

So basically there is nothing different from you and your hated leftist unions?  Got it.  I guess we won't hear you complain about unions again now that you are apart of one yourself.

Unions don't have to be funded, it could be a collective bound together by there beliefs in a better deal.  Strength in numbers.  Hey it's cool you're a unionist now.  How does it feel?

I said I dont agree with it either.  When I said that businesses are on strike, its also out of fear.  Why take a huge risk now if the govt is only going to crush you with new taxes and regs?
