This is true.  Because after Barry O's health plan gets implemented, none of us will be able to afford it.

lol yeah i do have insurance. im debating wether or not to go only because there jerkoffs lol. this is what there going to do. il go in the doctor will look at it for 5 minutes ask what is wrong. shel be like okay your going to need therapy and if therapy dont work get an mri. it happened to me when i fucked my wrist up bad lifting. the doctor will then go you need to go to physical therapy because the insurance company wont pay for the mri if you dont go there first. Rip OFF! lol. i personally dont believe in p.t. but that is my opinion

I sometimes fell a sharp pain in my left or right knee when squatting... though it is way better than when I was not training years ago...

Just wondering if your over weight and be getting extra stress on the knee(s) from just a normal every day  life. Or how deep you may be squatting. For BB'ing, breaking a little lower that the 90 degree mark is not always required. Are you keeping the knee area warm, like applying a heating lotion, wraps, etc around the knees before doing exercises. Very important.

Might check the shoes you are wearing. Also the foot stance. Some find less stress (you would think it would be the opposite) with raised heels. Like on a 2" board/BB plates. Olympic lifters, who handle huge weight in the front squat, use built up heels in their shoes/boots. If doing leg presses pain free, than something may be wrong with your squatting form, the way the bar is placed on the shoulders or stance. If pain when doing leg presses, that might suggest a developing knee problem beginning. Loose or potential floating knee cap (probably not), tendon/ligament, nerve inflamed, etc. Or maybe something as simple as not doing enough light warm-up movements for the legs and keeping them warn during workouts.

A Cat scan is the last thing most doctors will offer you. Big bucks for the insurance people. Might consider not doing squats  and select other leg movements. Or until you can figure out what's up with the left knee. Good Luck

Side Bar: I have been doing 50 to 100 Hindu Squats (bwt) before any leg work, even DL's.  Seems to set up the legs and get the blood flowing very well. Keeping the area primed and warm.

My knee or knees hurt when I need new athletic shoes.  When is the last time you got new shoes?  I'd try that first :)

yeah im going to try all of these techniques out. im not over weight if anything im under weight by a little bit. and for some reason it just hurts here and there today. like i would be sitting down and when i get up i would feel the pain in my knee. im just goin to take it easy and see how it progresses if it still hurts in 2-3 weeks then im most likely going to see a doc.

Rule out a patellar tracking problem first.  An easy and cheap thing to do is get one of the knee supports with the kneecap hole cut out.  Wear that and see if it reduces the pain.  If it doesn't, just take it back to the store and get a refund.  Then go to the doctor and jump through the therapy hoops for 4 weeks so you can meet the minimum requirement to get your insurance company to authorize an MRI and rule out any tears in the meniscus or ligaments.

Shoes could be an issue, particularly if you are squatting in a running shoe. Like JPM said, warming up the knees before squats is very important. Personally I do 3 sets of leg extentions one leg at a time and just alternate between each leg for 15 reps per set with no rest between sets ( one leg is resting while the other one is working ). I don't go heavy at all, just enough to get the knees warmed up. Been doing it this way for years on every leg day and my infrequent knee pain has gone away completely.

Most people mis-diagnose their knee pain and you probably don't have anything to worry about.

I bet it will be gone in a week or two and all you have to do is switch up your exercises for a bit.
