http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv/2012/06/04/spartacus-ending-after-season-3/The upcoming third season of Starz’s “Spartacus” will be its last, the network confirmed Monday.
The final run, which has been titled “Spartacus: War of the Damned,” will be comprised of 10 episodes that kick off in January.
“It was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for my partners and I,” series creator/executive producer Steven S. DeKnight said. “Yet, in the end, the story was best served by rolling all of the remaining action and drama of Spartacus’ journey into one stunningly epic season that will be extremely satisfying for everyone who’s been along for the ride.”
“Spartacus” stands tall as Starz’s first original scripted series. It became a hit when it debuted in January 2010, then survived the tragic loss of its original leading man, Andy Whitfield, who died of cancer last year at age 39. Liam McIntyre took over the title role in Season 2, “Spartacus: Vengeance,” which averaged 6 million viewers each week.
