JOSH, why did you leave SO Cal and do you plan to go back ever again? Who did you train with while you were there? Did you even hang out with Pete, Ed, and/or the Barbarian Bros? Did you ever compete or plan to compete? You look like you had great potential.

Swede!, are you planning to ever train at Gold's in Venice?

Josh, who ran the Marina Hotel back then? Didn't it belong to one of the bodybuilders at that time. You must have been damn serious to stay there in that hotel that long.

I used to live a few blocks up the beach on the Broadwalk at that blue apartment with big painting on its side. The one with the small Chinese grocery store on the bottom.  I recall paying about $140 or so a month. Now that's probably the daily rate.

thats me, Mike Francois and a buddy of mine named Ross

we were in the Firehouse and Samir Bannout ran up to us proclaiming Ross was actually Mark Messier. He refused to believe it wasnt.  I found it interesting Samir knew who a hockey player was

I cant go back--I cant enter the States cause of my criminal record.

I think it was Joe Bucci who ran it back then---dont  quote me on that

I trained a lot with Titus, got to go out eat with him a fewtimes, went tooling around town in his BMW.  Guy was super nice to us.

I know the exact building you are talking about that you lived in.

Joe ran the Marina Pacific and I too stayed there a while (1995). Rates were reasonable and it had a kitchenet and fridge.  Place was flooded with bodybuilders from out of town.  Saw Joe Bucci 2 weeks ago at Santa Monica stairs and he is super-fit and super-lean.  Really nice guy.

for all us "non-locals", are the "Santa monica stairs" one of those really huge flight of stairs that people jog up and down from (ala Mark Kerr in "The Smashing Machine"?

Yeah.... but they are scenic and you have a view of the ocean with clean ocean air.  They are really steep too ...and i used to laugh at them as being a "fad"......... but once I tried them I learnt a new respect ..... lot's a hot chicks too.  Most times I do them I end up throwing into a trashbin at the end .... which never me helps trying to get numbers from the chics....

One time I didn't make it to the bin and threw up on a ladies shoe.  I casually wipped my face with my towel and smiled at her saying "It's a beautiful morning isn't it?"

Yea! Joe Bucci! Thanks Dis and  Grant. I was in the area a couple of weeks ago and it looks like the hotel is under new ownership. ANy idea who owns it now?

Also what bodybuilder or bodybuilder associate ran the restaurant in the lobby for a short while?

Ha! I laugh at those stairs. I scoff, spit and turn my nose at those stairs. They are beneath such finely conditioned athletes such as myself and JME/Coach. For men like us it's Sand Dune Park at the corner of Rosecrans/Bell in Manhattan Beach, CA. Come if you dare.
