Done those many times.... but hate how the sand gets into every personal cranny for days after ya done.....

Figures! Is there anything you haven't done "Mr. I've Live Such a Full and Varied Life that You can Only Dream of."?

Get those water proof socks from REI and seal it with a rubber band at the top to be sure no sand sneaks in. Kind of ghetto but it gets the job done.

Disturbia, here's that Venice beachfront apt I mentioned earlier and the Chinese store beneath it. This was the only store  within a three mile radius at that time. I know both you and Grant will recognize it but I doubt that any other GetBiggers will.

The artwok was added many years latter. Those were bodybuilding's best years of all time.

And parking was never much of a problem back then either.

Pellius, brah, Include me in that "Full and Varied Life that You can Only Dream of" category you so politely Assigned to Grant.

I've seen and conquered a few hills within the confines of Quantico which were more demanding.

And then add the heat and humidity of the Virginia area and you have a hell-hill in a handbasket.

And then add the pre-hill liver and onions and warm milk field meal at the bottom - which never made it to the top.

And a 50 pound pack on your back.

Hit that hill five times a week and you'll get to the top soon enough easily.

But the big secret is laying off the liver and onions and SOS (Shit on a Shingle).

You give me way too much credit.  But I guess it's a compliment.  Somehow, I never seem satisfied. The water proof socks are a good idea ....they wear them in Venice Beach volleyball since the sand gets so hot...

I remember it well. Shopped there many times.... not knowing his prices were double than any other regular grocery store.  The whole store had the smell of fresh banana's!  Good times!

Stunt, do you remember the store "Titanic"? Had a blonde guy that would pose as a manequin for hours. And a bunch of movie art made from steel engine parts.....cool stuff.

A mod keeps merging threads for some reason. This thread is Swede, Disturbia and Method101 threads altogether.

Grant, I know Titanic well. In fact I was just there a month or so ago looking at those "in-fashion baseball hats" that seem so popular now a days.

And I do recall the model that used to stand there modeling jackets and beachware, but the one I remember looked like an Italian movie star with black hair.

I always wondered how much insurance they had to have to cover any skateboarder getting pierced by one of those iron figures they placed along the walkway.

When you first arrived down that way they also had a bunch of lady models in Bee-Bee (name may be wrong) clothes in that old blue and white beach-house that is now vacant but used to be some sort of radio station. That model operation always gathered a big crowd.

The nephews took us to that new skateboard park on the beach a bit north of the Venice basketball courts and I was astounded when I saw what kids can do nowadays.

It always amazes me when I see what the new generations of kids are able to do which we never even thought of when I was younger.

Have you met Tree Man yet?

I love Venice. It's a circus that includes me in. And not just as a spectator.

Yeah.... but they are scenic and you have a view of the ocean with clean ocean air.  They are really steep too ...and i used to laugh at them as being a "fad"......... but once I tried them I learnt a new respect ..... lot's a hot chicks too.  Most times I do them I end up throwing into a trashbin at the end .... which never me helps trying to get numbers from the chics....

One time I didn't make it to the bin and threw up on a ladies shoe.  I casually wipped my face with my towel and smiled at her saying "It's a beautiful morning isn't it?"

pssh, i can throw up from walking up much smaller sets of stairs.  i bet i'd throw up walking up 6 stairs these days.

Ha! I laugh at those stairs. I scoff, spit and turn my nose at those stairs. They are beneath such finely conditioned athletes such as myself and JME/Coach. For men like us it's Sand Dune Park at the corner of Rosecrans/Bell in Manhattan Beach, CA. Come if you dare.

Used to go there all the time.  There is even a bigger sand dune park near Malibu.  Pellius. we used to go "icing"  We would go buy 50 lb. blocks of ice from those big ice machines and take them to the Rolling Hills Country Club and sit on them and go down the grass hills.  You would haul ass.  It was fun.

Rolling Hills? Some rich turf up there. Didn't Chuck Norris have a place there before he moved to Texas to do Walker Texas Ranger?

What was perfect about the Sand Hill was that the combination of the soft sand and going up hill really took all the pounding off the knee that you get from running. Having had surgeries on both knees I really appreciated that. Also, you really had to work because every step you took your foot would sink in and slide back a little. Sometimes it was like you weren't even moving. I once took a girl there that was an aerobics instructor and she couldn't even walk up once. Actually, I couldn't either my first time.
