No profiling was necessary in that case.  There were plenty of signs he was mentally unstable without considering his religion.  He would have been just as mentally unstable and would have probably committed the same act had he been a Christian.   The system failed, but not because of his religious beliefs.

the system failed because you had military members too afraid to speak up because of his religious beliefs...numerous stories have come out from people who worked around him, supervised him, and commanded him that said just what i stated.  people are afraid to speak up for fear of being labeled a racists.  if he was non-muslim his ass would have been drummed out of the military.
