Massive 8.8 Magnitude EQ hits Chile - 2012 coming early?

Earthquake 500x more powerful than the one that hit Haiti less than 2 months ago.   Anyone starting to believe in this 2012 prophecy now?   Or was this the 2nd test of a devastating new military weapon?

No, each point on the richter scales increase by an order of magnitude by like 100 from the one before it..... or some shit like that.

the old system for measuring earthquakes was a logarithmic scale.

so each full point (eg. from 6 to 7) was a factor of 10x.

so a 8.0 magnetude earthquake would be 100x more powerful than a magnetude 6 quake.

now, they use a new system apparently, but I believe it is still close to the old system, because the old system number is the one that always gets reported in the media.

still, an 8.8 quake is one of the strongest ever.

totally sucks. poor people.

There is no such thing as prophecy.

Natural disasters happen in nature; period.

Weapons testing could be a valid reason, though rather unlikely, as Chile exists in an earthquake zone.

Chile has some of the highest rates
of seismicity in the world

Exactly. There was relatively little damage done in Chile. They are preparing for Tsunamis now across the Pacific, which has the potential to cause more damage than the quake itself did.
