It's pointless to argue that when the majority of the US's athletes come from low populated areas where winter sports are prevalent. It's funny how desperate Canadians are to prove that they're better than the USA at something.

Ethiopia won more gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics than Canada. Congrats, a country where 75% of the population lives on $0.50 a day and suffers from starvation has better trained athletes. 

The 2008 Summer Olympics took place in China. How the heck is a Canadian athlete supposed to compete in a city where the air is so thick you can cut it with a knife? Our athletes were raised on and train in clear, blue, fresh crisp unpolluted skies. I'm surprised they didn't keel over the moment the plane touched down in Beijing.

Summer Olympics = dirt country olympics (even the Americans winning medals have roots in dirt countries.  pretty much any event in these games can be played in the poorest parts of the poorest countries.  these games should be called the Barefoot Olympics.)
Winter Olympics = rich white country olympics (all events in these games require money to participate in.  they are the elitist Olympics.)

I don't think that Canadians are trying to prove anything.  It's pretty much a well known fact that the U.S. is the most hated nation in the world, and Canada is numero uno.  Every Cdn. i know is sure to wear the Maple Leaf when travelling abroad to ensure we're not mistaken for Americans.  I have nothing against the U.S.;  love the place actually.  It's just the way things are after decades of fuct up U.S. foreign policy.
