Funny how the WORLD sport has only ONE sport to gloat about...While America has 4 seasonal sports to rotate all year around.

But no-one else plays them!  The baseball WORLD series is just the USA!  No-one else plays AMERICAN football.  Basketball is played in a couple of countries, but nowhere near the popularity of football.  And what's the last one, ice hockey?  So just you, Canada and Russia then.

 ;D

LOL @ Euros needing Americas help to end their war against hitler

You might want to check your history here.  Hitler had already over extended his forces by underestimating the time required in Russia.  Trying to fight on two fronts was crippling him, and it was only a matter of time before he failed.  However, the US involvement was certainly important and saved a lot of lives.

Hence the name "foot"ball in the rest of the world.
What's the explanation for the foot in "foot"ball as in that NFL game they play in the USA?

Meh, in a real sport that requires
real skill, you would have to use
your feet, hands, shoulders and head,
but the main requirement would be
some balls, something foozeball
lacks

Soccer (as my US friends call it), is the biggest sport in the world, and the players earn obscene amounts of money, eg: Ashley Cole cheats on wife, Chelsea fines him 400'000 pounds (less than a months salary for Ash, but enough for me to retire comfortably and live it up... crazy

Whats really impressive, is the big 5 sports in the US/Canada, American football, ice hockey, basketball, baseball, NASCAR. They're only really big there (basketball has fans in europe and parts of asia and africa, but small / ice hockey also played in eastern europe, but small-time), however, the salary packages, endorsements and earnings those involved earn to cater for a relatively small (compared to soccer) audience is huge.

If you compare soccer vs "the USA sports, take the fan ratio of both into account, US sports are paid much more money. Mega marketing, which explains why every play has a sponsored slow-mo, its just short of the ref holding a Bud during the game.

Nascar is mostly a southerner sport, right? But a multi-billion dollar industry in its own right!

Same for ice-hockey, not big in the warmer states but still massive money!

Baseball has been taken over by the neighbours to the south, but those salaries!

Basketball is the best one, the only dream left for the tall players from the projects, controlled mostly by whites, amazing skill, big money!

Typical American, go big or go home. Works for them.

This is Getbig...all millionaires bunch of world travelers.

26 countries? hmmmmmmmmmm, business or vacation?

 I'm not a US hater...boss.

I hope you know I was just yanking your chain to get you fired up, BUT I certainly have been to 26 countries.  It's a mixture of time in the Navy (when it was obvious I was an American and still had zero issues) and vacations.  Never on business.  And I know you don't hate the US, like I said the soccer vs football thing is just fun to get each other going.  8)

soccer is more accessible than other sports as alrdy stated earlier in this thread. You dont need to be tall, big, heavy, muscular etc, considering 90% of the world population arent powerful genetics freaks and tend to be of the ectomorphic kind, that is why more people play soccer.

Soccer is also played in countries where the climate allows you to spend a lot of time outside in the sun.

Soccer and Formula 1...Two of the biggest sports in the world, and America suck in booth.

Do you think they don't know how to drive?

How many Americans would be able to park a car "manual shift" going on reverse on a hill?

  Without frying the clutch. lol

America doesn't dominate soccer because there isn't enough land to have a soccer field at every corner in the inner cities...

Gimmick...we already know but he is an excellent passer still.  if fit n dunga holds a spot for him...he'll make their strikers even deadlier.  thanks for nothing.

lol how the fuck does my response make me a gimmick?

an EXCELLENT passer shouldnt put you in a high profile TV ad for the world Cup. Kaka deserves to be in this commercial instead of ronaldinho

We had even worse in the Swiss army.
I was stationed on Monte Ceneri in the Swiss Italian alps a few miles from the small city of Bellinzona (population 17'000).
There were people who refused to go into Bellinzona because coming from small villages they were scared of Bellinzona's size. Would have loved to drop them into London, LA, or even better Hong Kong or Lagos and see their heads explode...

That is not true.  After Mandela united an nation in 1996 to (unexpectedly) win the Rugby World Cup ....blacks in South Africa have embraced rugby and in the foot-steps of Chester Williams (hero in the factual movie "Invitus") we have many top black players in our National team supported by the entire nation ..... Beast Mtiriwira (from Zimbabwe), Habana, JP Petierson, Ricky Januarie, Odwa Indugane, Chiliboy Ramphele ....I could go on.

Rugby in South Africa is no longer a white man's sport.  You guys need to keep up? And it gets much more support from blacks and whites alike over the sport of soccer.  The national soccer team will not succeed in the World Cup... sadly.

I suggest you watch Invictus.... a great movie....

Hi Grant,

Like I said, amongst the coloureds and whites. Most coloureds are afrikaans speaking, especially in western cape.
Theyre big rugby fans, and have always followed the boer culture...
I havent watched invictus yet, but want to, apparently Matt Damon did a good Francois Pienaar.
The pioneer Chester, Habana, Januarie, are coloured not black, as you know.
Also big stories here with Sarfu pushing black players trough based on skin color, not merit.

Bottom line, most blacks dont give a shit bout rugby, SA will go through 1st round, as a host team has always been helped trough, never in history has 1 been knocked out of 1st round, till now maybe...the guys are really bad atm...
