pleny of religous types think UFO's are a genuine phenomena too (google the Vatican and UFO)

I've never seen any correlation with atheist and belief in UFO's

most atheists are skeptics of almost anything that is in the broad category of supernatural or paranormal

I've noticed they aren't necessarily above needing to accept something that can't be rationalized. It seems like they'd be more evolved/logical.

I don't really see the "needing to accept" part.

We've got 50+ years of sightings from highly credible witnesses, we've got photos and videos, we've got Governments all around the world disclosing information, etc....

I think the logical conclusion is that there is a genuine phenomena happening and it's got nothing to do with a need to believe in an extra-terrestrial life form.

saying someone is smarter as a reason to believe something is a type of logical fallacy known as an appeal to authority and is not a valid reason to believe something.

Stanton has offered lots of evidence over the years and that's a better reason to agree with him (if one is so inclined).

it's impossible for me to confuse educated with smart.

1) usually a positive correlation between the 2
2) i dont care how educated to claim to be....certain subjects require a higher level of intelligence...NOT everyone can be a nuclear physicist..PERIOD.....i dont care how hard you work or how hard you try....these r fields where most people fail and a very scanty few eek thru....
hense....i do give credence to their views

There's certainly nothing wrong with admiring intelligence but (for me) it's not a "reason" that I must agree with someone.

I know a few PHd types who are brilliant in their own field but nothing special in any other area

Regarding the topic at hand, I think it's funny when people ignore the personal sightings from highly credible witnesses who have nothing to gain and everything to lose by disclosing their personal experiences.  There is plenty of evidence that most people just choose to ignore

When you take the universes size into account and the fact that life does exist here on Earth doesn't that make the probability that life does exist somewhere else extremely high?
