Here's a pic of a friend of mine at the arnold classic with supposedly some of the biggest arms in the biz.  These pros must all be really short, and when compared with eachother they look "big", but when next to a normal sized person who is in decent shape, they really dont look all that huge.  We need more arnold's and lou ferrigno's in this business....some truly huge bbers.

In terms of the amount of sheer volume pro bodybuilders occupy, I agree with you.  Although the same argument can be made of obese people in comparison with these bodybuilders.  Also, pros like Gunter would not look as small next to your friend - height is a large part of the illusion illustrated above.

PS - Phil looks great in that picture.

never said the friend was "huge"...just that the so-called "huge" bbers dont look taht impressive next to someone of a normal stature.  post a few of the pics of "kahn" that have been floating around where he is posing by himself adn the guy looks like a beast...next toa  normal person he is still big, but doesnt have even close to the same "wow" factor.

Simplyhuge, Phil is 236, so he is not "huge", even Flex Wheeler at 5'10 when he was at the Mr O in 93 was 218. It's the look, that is what it is. All I see is a dude who is 6 foot next to Khan, and he still destroys him. The wow factor is still there. Even with Phil...I understand you saying they lose their wow factor standing next to a 6 footer, but if that 6 footer were in shape, it be different. But then, Toney Freeman is a 6 footer, how would your friend look next to him, or Gunter? Not very impressive. And remember, Phil placed ahead of Toney.

But, the fact remains that because I see soo many pics, I don't get the wow factor anymore...

I kind of get what he's saying. Obviously when you have something standing along with no comparison it looks amazing. For example, if you get an A- on a midterm it looks pretty damn good by itself. However, if your friend gets an A+, then your A- does not look AS impressive when it's next to the A+.  However, I still look Phil looks amazing standing next to your friend--perhaps just as impressive as when standing along. But like I said, I kind  of get what you're saying; unfortunately, your friend is not someone to stick next to Phil Heath. Maybe if someone with Groinks arms stood next to Phil I can get that impression more.

What is impressive about pros is the thickness, width, (not in Heath's case) musclemass, definition, separation and low bf....99% of the time not the height.

maybe you just feel guilty for setting up your innocent friend for an owning
