A little bit out there but wanted to get some opinions.  Do you think disproportionate overgrowth ever looks good for some muscles or bad for some muscles.  I'll give you an example

There was a guy on juice when I was in college that was one of those upper body gorillas.  His arms were bigger than his head from a lot of bicep/tricep development.  His legs I mean they weren't sticks but they were more like whatever you want to call normal would be.  You could not look at this guy without thinking "wow the dudes f-n arms are bigger than his head".  I recall a conversation he had that went like this: Other guy "What do you do for legs" Gorilla Man "Oh I don't do legs I just play football and that is enough for them"

Anyway do you have any opinions.  Sometimes I hear people say having too big of traps is not aesthetically pleasing.  Short guys sometimes have blown up forearms or other muscles but I personally think forearms bigger is better.  Its very common that you see guys with muscle shirts and little girl calves.. i think that looks like shit.

Ok so my opinion.. I don't think you can ever take biceps too far for a man.. maybe that one dude the man whos arms exploded documentary guy that is too far.  But in general no one is gonna look at you and say "you look like shit dude.. your biceps are way too built for the rest of you".

"Disproportionate" probably about say's it all. Symmetrical is cool. Over-developed is pretty rare.

The only thing I think is really ugly (other than the Greg Valvolino arms you refer to) is a guy with chicken legs in shorts with a huge upper body in a tank top. When it looks as if a bodypart (or parts) are completely neglected as far as a workout is concerned, that to me qualifies as "disproportionate"

If you have an "over-developed" chest, you may as well have over-developed calves too... but then we would have to deal with symmetry vs. asymmetry.

symmetry is the proper or 'due' proportion of the parts of a body or whole to one another with regard to size and form -- but then the subject is also subjective to the eye of the beholder. Some folks might like it when a guys arms are bigger than his head. Who's to say? A judge at the Mr. O?

Oversized neck/traps looks bad
you know I kind of feel the same way. I dont train my traps mainly because when i do they become overbearingly strong and start to do to much work on side delt exercises like upright rows and side laterals.. but also cuz i dont think they look very classy, lol

Overdeveloped traps decrease optical/perceived shoulder width.
A lot of guys’ egos lead to them obsessing with traps because they grow so easily for most folks, and when you’re training for size, growth is the ultimate reward & you’ll take whatever you can get.

Big traps on narrow shoulders aren’t very aesthetically pleasing to look at.

As far as “overpowering” muscles that are okay, I’ve never seen a set of calves on anyone – male or female – and thought, “man those look stupid.”

Negative. It looks powerful and intimidating.

Calves, forearms, traps can never be too big. But when I thought about it, can back as a whole be too big? I dont think so. Or has there ever been anyone whos lats or spinal erectors were too big.
