I've got my doubts on a lot of the 'celeb's' that have made it into the HOF.

DiBiase though, definitely deserves his place.

Didn't he have a Tag Title run with IRS?  It was a brilliant gimmick/character that he played very well, and he was an excellent in-ring worker as well.  Combine that with good promo's, and you've got the package.  Much better wrestler than some of the people that have been put in there.

any hall of fame should be for the great

not "very good"

guess i shouldn't question a hall of fame that puts in bob uecker for making a handful of appearances on wwe tv ::)

DiBiase worked some high profile programs with the likes of Hogan, Warrior, etc., and yes - he was coholder of the tag belts with Rotundo.
It's even been said that he was originally slated to go over Savage & win the strap in the WM IV tournament.

Regardless, with Koko B. Ware in the HOF, it’s a little hard for me to consider DiBiase mid-card talent.

That being said, I see your point.

With guys like the Road Warriors and the British Bulldogs waiting in the wings, it really makes me wonder why and how people like Pete Rose & Bob Uecker make it ahead of them.

By WWE’s standards, “Chilly Billy” Cardille can (and probably will) be inducted before “Jumpin” Johnny De Fazio – not that I would have a problem with that.
To me, it’s the same as inducting Gordon Solie.

But, cameo announcers and/or commentators like “Mr. Baseball” don’t seem quite as deserving.
Then again, don’t forget, Vince is known to do things for “Vince’s own amusement.”
He would make a mockery of his own company just to spite his “adversaries” and get a chuckle along the way.

And you nailed it when you wrote that it is NOT a HOF to be taken seriously given it's members.

If the old man had wanted it to be a serious affair, then it would be.
Clearly he doesn't.

Ted Di Biase was hardly a mid carder. He main evented most of 1987-1988 straight.

It’s not a brick & mortar structure like the Rock and Roll HOF.

It’s more of an intangible “title,” if you will.

Where is the HOF anyway in Stamford?
Usually in the same city that is hosting WM.

The ceremony, yes.
I think Timmy was referring to a museum type deal with exhibits, etc.

No such thing, yet...
But, with the additions of Bob Uecker & Koko B. Ware, it makes little sense NOT to build one.

DiBiase’s gimmick was a heel in every sense of the word, but his ring work was a good, solid, textbook style (clean).
IMO, they should have had him wrestle a bit dirtier – i.e. pull his opponent’s trunks for a pin, rake the eyes, or even a square kick in the nuts, etc. would have been nice.

In other words, you should have been able to identify Ted as a heel by watching his matches alone – without any knowledge of his mic. work or vignettes.
I think his persona relied a little too heavily on his interviews.

Piper was inducted in 2005 - and rightfully so.

Other heels I would like to see inducted include Savage, but there’s little chance of that happening.
Personally, I think Macho’s best work was as a heel – as with Piper.

Bundy belongs.
He scared the piss out of me as a little kid.
They really convinced everyone by WM II that he was a formidable opponent for Hogan, but that was all erased the next year when they teamed him with the midgets for a mixed tag against Hillbilly Jim.

Danny Davis played a real prick who had tremendous heat from awarding Savage the I.C. belt from Tito, as well as his significant role with the Hart Foundation & their feud with the Bulldogs.

The original Four Horseman should be inducted.
I know they were NWA, but WTF – Vince owns it all now, anyway.

Bill Eadie & Jake Roberts also deserve a spot based on mic. & ring work

lol you're asking me who was better?  you put him at the top?

off the top of my head

ric flair
hhh
the rock (corporate)
andre the giant
hollywood hogan
undertaker
kane
shawn michaels
kevin nash
scott hall
mankind
kurt angle
brock lesnar

all of those guys sold more tickets and ppv's than ted dibiase, i'm sure there were several more but i don't have all day to type out a list

when he was in wcw he seemed like just a background guy in the nwo, i hardly remember him speaking on the mic, wcw didn't give him 'legendary' treatment like they gave other former wwf stars

heck vincent/virgil got more air time in wcw

he was just a corny gimmick, a few steps above koko b ware

By the time he was in WCW, Ted’s best days were long behind him.
Kind of pointless to bring him in and use him the way they did.

Good list, though.
Flair, Andre, & Hogan are HOF alumni.
Taker, Rock, HBK & HHH are virtually guaranteed spots in the next several years.

Angle, Mankind, and probably Nash, too, are all looking at an induction, but not as long as they’re in TNA.
Vince wanted Piper to induct Snuka, but Hot Rod’s involvement with TNA at the time prevented even that.

That’s been a popular rumor for a lot of years.
Personally, if it were true, I don’t think Vince would have given Macho the on-air sendoff he did.

I remember watching – I think – Superstars, and, while sitting at the ringside announce table, Vince spoke directly into the camera addressing Savage’s departure, wishing him all the best in his future endeavors.
Of course, Vince knew he was heading to WCW, but regardless…

A more believable story is that the reason Vince is so bitter towards Savage is that when he left the Fed, he took Slim Jim and their advertising $$ with him.
Vince relied very heavily on sponsor revenue at that time.

Exactly. Savage generated tonnes of cash for the WWE and was always a top star from the first day he appeared in july of 1985. But in the end, money talks and BS walks. 3 year deal with WCW for 2 mill per year + all his slim Jim revenues. $$$
