Agreed.  That is something that is worth the money and a benefit to all.

It is something that would benefit business, the economy, mobility, tech, etc.

No, instead we get $400k to study sex habits of chicks in bars.

I'm against the government spending money to expand interwebz, too much trouble would come from that.  Remember proxies and anon browsing are the way to go.

I'm just saying, if we are going to spend $868 BILLION on a stim bill, the least we should get in a national wifi system or something of the sirt.

3333... They are already stopping certain things. (And yes, I agree... national WIFI would be nice and worthwhile)

This went to court because Comcast was already blocking and throttling bandwidth on certain types of traffic... such as torrent traffic.... Which has very valid uses and is used by many legitimate companies.

Comcast decided if you're downloading some kind of torrent traffic, then you're a bad person so they throttle you down.

Next it can be your streaming netflix traffic or anything else they choose... just because maybe you're not using their cable TV service and want something else.

This was a VERY bad precedent.

The FCC needs to get on the ball QUICK and make sure they are keeping things open for all.

Ok, I was not so familiar with all the details of this, but I still think we could do a national wifi with some of the stim bill money, which would be a great thing.

Wifi would be a massive waste of tax dollars.  Its insecure, expensive and the signal problems are ridiculous.

Seems to work well in Mountain View where Google pays for it.

It's not about secure... it's about having access.

If you want security, make sure the sites you're visiting are SSL encrypting stuff.

That's a man in the middle attack... it is not an SSL vulnerability... It is a vulnerability of people.

My point was more to the point that if we are spending so much damn money, at least we should be spending it on things that might actually be useful to most people.  I dont know the technical stuff on this, it was just an idea.

You're right straw, its a problem with the implementation, not the encryption.  That being said, its still not a secure way to exchange information.
