Absolutely. I have been lurking here for awhile and not posting, and I have seen what this guy has been doing/saying. He may, at one time, have done things that me and you will not have the opportunity to do, like meet with guys that live in the area or end up in movies. However what you DID does not equal out to what you are DOING.

They work, 100%, no doubt about it. Before they were 'The Adonis Principles', Mike Mentzer was espousing the same thing. Before that, others were saying the same thing. Hell, the government has been telling us this for years.

All the work has been done for you, yet people still hang on to this idea that they will need something no one else does. I still know people who tell me they are doing Cutler's diet or whatever. These people never make progress.

A calorie is a calorie for the MOST part. You can opt for a complex carb over sugar or whatever at different times for SOME insulin control, but it is not that big of a deal. Protein is only needed for the functions it serves. Once you have enough for growth, you CAN NOT USE ANYMORE!!.

Last time Goodrum and I saw each other, it was around 5 years ago. He saw me on both diets, the bodybuilding dogma stuff and the 'Adonis diet' that I used. I believe he would tell you I looked better eating less calories and eating things like a MilkyWay preworkout than I ever did previously.

I am not saying it is optimal to eat candy and ice cream all day, every day. I am saying that ENOUGH protein, ENOUGH carbs, Enough fats and a calorie reduction will work for weight loss. The same thing plus calories works for weight gain. It really is that simple.

You are stupid if you believe you can eat double over maintenance of anything and lose fat, or if you believe you need thousands of extra calories for muscle gain. Well, either stupid or you just picked up your first muscle mag.

Goodrum: You made a TON of improvements for your last show. Keep at it man, you can see your hard work actually meant something.

The problems guys run into is with their training. High volume, low volume, whatever you can progress with. If you never deload you will never progress farther.

First, I apologize for the tone of the post. I did come off like a dick, but I was just letting it flow.

Goodrum really is a good guy in real life, and nothing like his old posts from years ago, even then. He will defend himself and his ideas just like anyone else, and like everyone else in bodybuilding he has subscribed to some ridiculous beliefs. I know he and I both fell for Mike Mentzer's later training philosophies and wasted time with it. I know he and I both fell for the typical bodybuilding bullshit that you read about in magazines.

However I do know that whenever we ran into each other, he always sincerely offered advice to the best of his ability. He even offered to sell me supplements at a gigantic discount where he would of had to have broke even or whatever to give that price.

Believe it or not, Goodrum specializes in entertainment, and a lot of the ridiculous stuff on here is seemingly for fun and content, not out of serious things.

You take it way to far, and he has responded in kind. You would think you would stop responding to him, since he is taken as a joke character on the internet forums most of the time (his intention). He may provide puffery  with his PT advice, claims, and whatever else, but show me one person who is in that business and not doing that. I am not saying he knows it all, hell he is the first person to admit that. However he does know enough for the people he trains, and has some good ideas. You will not make money competing with all of the contest prep guys, especially if you do not master the drug stuff. The money is in the normal people, and particularly the baby boomers who want to stay in shape and feel younger. Goodrum does not do anything that isn't already done in this industry, he is just playing the game.

Adonis looks fantastic, and has never shown any indication that he does not do what he suggests. I think he will do things in a cycle, like one week eat more ice cream, and the next switch over to chicken or whatever, but his point holds water. I have seen it done in my own body. Hell, Goddrum was shocked last time he saw me and found out that I ate 'like crap' and looked better than before. He looked shocked and somewhat appalled when I told him I was off to Mcdonald's or whatever for my post workout meal, lol.

I have refined it since then. You must burn more than you use to lose fat. However you must also get all of your required nutrients. The same goes with bulking.

I believe in more frequent meals, but it is no big deal really. It is hard to eat like 1500 calories in one meal, then make it to your last one if you are eating 2000 calories.

Bodybuilders make this stuff so hard, even fearing Milk because it will 'prevent fat loss'. Who the hell came up with that? You get the point.

I do prefer to eat stuff like wheat bread over white, and grilled chicken over fried chicken since I can get more nutritional value from it while at the same time being able to eat more food within the same calories, but in a pinch I can go for weeks on fried chicken or whatever and it matters not.

Good Post.  I don`t eat in "cycles" at all though.  I eat whatever I want and usually it is determined by whatever cookbook seems to strike my fancy, (the past 2-3 weeks it has been Bobby Flay`s Burgers, Shakes and Fries) or whatever is on special at the grocery store/farmers market.  We love to cook and do not treat food as a chore, but rather as something to enjoy.

The nutrition is always there by default.  Also, I prefer white bread for Hamburgers of course.  White Breads now have tons of great Vitamins and Minerals added and even contain around 9 grams of protein, (in the hamburger buns I use.).

I do like Artisan breads as well and will bake bread every now and then. (King Arthur Flour Cookbook is the best baking book period!)

Anyways, keep up the good work and I enjoyed reading your experiences.  Vince is vastly improving and I do think in time, he will pull off his dream of the physique he has always envisioned for himself.

I did the things I did for entertainment for kicks but ever since I was laid off from Alltel and lost my main source of income back on 07, I've taken my fitness business a lot more seriously than I did before.

Devastator, I hope you're still wrestling because you have the right stuff to go pretty far in the wrestling business and a natural talent for working matches than I ever had or could even dream of.  If you ever need anything let me know.
