I like the tone of your posts, Samjh. I don't agree with everything you say especially about noworries but I respect someone who sticks up for a friend.

You are right about the TA "principles." It's nothing new. When it comes to weight loss, maintenance, and gain it's all about calories in and calories out. What I don't like about TA is how he seems to emphasize how he eats donuts, ice cream, pastries... "whatever he wants." But the problem with most people is that if you eat foods with a high glycemic index it doesn't, as my mom use to say when we would eat poi (mashed taro root) for breakfast, "stick to your ribs." You get hungry again faster because of the insulin spike and you tend to eat more. It's been proven that "sugary" foods stimulates the appetite. It certainly works that way for me since I can eat a lot more brownies than I can eat mixed vegetables.

One of the major difference between simple, high glycemic carbs; and complex, low glycemic carbs, is fiber. That's why you can fill yourself up with a lot of vegetables but not ingest a lot of calories. Lets take for example an apple, if I were to make you a glass of apple juice I'd probably have to use 3-4 apples to get a decent glass of apples juice. You will get the same amount of calories as if you ate those apples but what will fill you up more and "stick to your ribs"?

Now it's a little bit different with fat. Fat is low glycemic but very calorie dense. Over twice the amount of calories per gram than protein and carbohydrates. So having two pieces of fried chicken versus two pieces of grilled chicken will still fill you up the same but the fired chicken will have way more calories. Also, at least for me, I seem to able to chow down a lot more food when it's battered and fried because it taste so good. Eating steam broccoli versus broccoli breaded and deep fried in tempura batter is like night and day for me.

Also, TA seems to dismisses the nutritional value of so called "healthy" foods versus donuts, cakes and ice cream -- especially since he doesn't advocate vitamin supplements. Another issue never mentioned is by eating high glycemic carbohydrates you eventually develop insulin resistance leading to type 2 diabetes. By having insulin always in your system you start to develop a resistance to your own insulin which forces your body to produce more and more insulin to process a given unit of carbohydrate and when taken to extremes you burn out your pancreas and you are no longer to produce any insulin at all making you now a type 1 diabetic. You want to avoid foods that cause an insulin spike and consume foods that take longer to be broken down into glucose so that you have a slow and steady release of energy and avoid that insulin spike.

Most people are not that active. Many simply do not have the time or desire to train as much and as hard as we do. They have other priorities in life. I'm not going to criticize them for that. So for most people it does matter what food choices they make if they want to satisfy their hunger and not get fat.

So what? I had 6 brownies this morning. What's your point? You and I go to the gym regularly. We burn it off. Most people do not train like we do. Since their activity levels and therefore their caloric expenditures not as great as ours they have to make better food choices.

Quit bragging and being so arrogant.

Yeah, I don't advocate eating nothing but cookies all of the time or anything like that. However if there is an exchange, like GI rating vs GI rating, I go for the tastier food. I also use a vitamin.

However, I am a bit skeptical about the development of type 2 diabetes in lean, non overweight people. If you go over your genetically entitled weight to a point, you end up in the situation where you are asking the pancreas to release more insulin with everything.

However, we all workout, which increases insulin sensitivity, as you know, so our extra weight is 'good'.

I am not too sure about how to refute anything for sure, but here is my schedule for the day so far:

8 slices Ezekial bread.
4 oz turkey
2 servings 1% milk
Workout
Butterfingerbar

Now I am about to go eat Mexican food. 1370 calories so far, and that will be dinner. Probably taco salad.

I am aiming for 2200 calories today.

If you are lean you are not going to be a type 2 diabetic. But if you follow the eating and activity pattern of those that are type 2 diabetics then you, like them, will get fat. It will be that pear shape type of fat rather than just a gut.

Pelli,
Since you brought up diabeties I've been wondering for awhile since I've seen your pics, are you type 1?

Reason I ask is you have the exact same physical stature as my brother who has Type 1 & also has CF.
I mean no disrespect & you look great for your age either way.

Yeah, I don't think anyone, day in, day out, should eat nothing but ice cream. However generally the food recommendations of bodybuilders are wayyyyy off the mark unless you have pharmaceutical help.

I agree with Adonis, .5-1 gram of protein per pound is fine. I like the .5 figure better for dieting for me, and the 1 figure for gaining. However I take it a step further and only eat for the lean mass. So, if I am 265 but only have 220 pounds of lean mass, I eat for a 230 pound guy in the way of protein when gaining. You really only need a little bit more. Guys needlessly gain a lot of fat when 'bulking'. What is the point of being a bodybuilder if you only look near your best a few weeks a year?

Agreed. I also agree with Basile about the lack of scientific studies done to determine protein OPTIMAL requirements for the average person and for athletes especially strength athletes and bodybuilders.

Oh yea, I'm suppose to know who a no name person's daddy is.... ::)

In any event, I could care less about who is daddy is.  Obviously, he wasn't that great of a wrestler to raise a brat like him.

Shit a thread to "own" Apenis ends up "owning" Goodrum too.  why am I not surprised.  See Goodrum you talk shit and lie to much it catches up to you.

I think I've been very clear about my time in wrestling.  It was very short and not sweet.  I don't even think I even broke even between travel and gas.  The only thing good that came out of it was that I gained a few good friends and I didn't get any major injuries.  So there's no reason for me to put that shit over anything.
How can you say you wrestled when you never were in the ring.  I just don't get that logic.

No offense, but if we had a chart of your life, it would be a line shaped like a camel's hump. Low to start, growing up, doing whatever you did, gaining 500 pounds, flaming people on the freaking internet, mastering typing with one hand while holding food in the other:)

I don't understand why you rag on these guys so much. What started the feud between you and Goodrum/Adonis?

Yes, that's right, the lowest point of your life, not being able to wipe your own ass.

You amounted to nothing. It doesn't matter what you did, you are castrated, super fat, and you can't wipe your own ass.

I can't compare my life with Hitler either, but I would not trade the lows for him with the highs.

As for pictures, they are coming. I, like you, had a very bad year. I fell out of shape, I was miserable, hating the world. I will have pics up by September. I hope you live to see them.

Keith, you truly are a sad mess and you have way too many people taking up residence in your head.  You need to take a break from this place and think about your actions.

All this anger over being so fat that you haven't seen your own penis since the Bush Administration......Bush Sr by the way.

LOL. The funny thing is that he has rotary responses "What have you done? Go kill yourself. Your physique is bad. ETC."

The fact that he spends time conversing with people and trading insults on the internet all damn day shows you a lot about what he does.

Like I said before, this guy did make great accomplishments, he may have been a great guy at one point. However his attitude throws it all away now. What did you do to him Goodrum? My understanding is that he started with you for virtually no reason, and then you ended up posting the specifics of him screwing people out of relatively small amounts of money.

I hope he loses weight and sticks to his diet and working out. No human being should be forced to go through what he is going through physically.

However, to my knowledge he never had a great physique, and his claim to fame was the Stallone movie that bombed. It is awesome that he got to do that and became friends with people, but it doesn't make him any better than anyone else.

Hey gimmick how are you today.  See you've keeping Goodrum happy.  It's nice to finally have one person who he can call an Allie.  He gets picked on so much here and every other board.  You kinda wonder why.  So having you in his corner is just more fuel for the fire.  And by the way Over the Top I do NOT consider anything to do with claim to fame.  But it is nice you noticed.  By the way just to save time and effort on your part.  I am noit like Goodrum (sexual wise) so just keep any romantic messages to yourself and him.  And you know I always like hearing from the less fortunate.  Oh another thing, I have never ever said I had a great physique but it sure did get me places and made me money.  So that puts it way ahead of yours and your boyfriend.  Sorry the truth hurts,

You know, I used to read your posts when you were ONLYME. They were entertaining and they represented a great time in a great industry. Do I want to do what you got to do? Absolutely, and I am jealous of you for it.

The posts then were great in the history section, and you seemed like a great guy, a true ambassador. Now your posts are filled with hatred and obsession.

Goodrum and I got off on the wrong foot. However I did not harvest this grudge against him, and I thought pointing out flaws in his physique would be like making fun of someone's eye color or something. It is true that Goodrum's confidence level, at times seems higher than his physique should allow. However if you really look at what he has to work with, he has done an awesome job as of his recent contest.

I too would call him on BS in real life to find that he honestly believed in the stuff he was talking about. Hell, I believed that one set to failure all of the time was optimal for everyone once.

Anyway, I apologize for losing my cool, and I do respect you for what you did. However the way you act now, with such hatred and anger, that takes away more than any amount of weight you can possibly gain.

That was the main reason I posted in the first place, to tell you that Goodrum wasn't THAT bad, and that you should become the guy capable of the great things you already did.

Good luck on losing the weight and coming back. I am doing the same thing man, I had a horrible 5 years that have set me back for a long time.

Oh, and I am no gimmick, nor am I a homo sexual. I don't irrationally hate gay people or anything (obviously in Goodrum's case), but I am not of that orientation. In fact, I never knew for sure, but I did suspect Goodrum may have been a switch hitter. It was never anything I would talk about since it is none of my business, but that fact alone does not change the fact that he is a good guy trying to help people and make a living.

You're just mad over your former business partners contacting me about how you stiffed them out of 2500.00 in Muscle Mafia T-Shirts and me posting all of those emails you sent making every excuse or should I have to put back up the link....well I'll do it anyway.

Face it Keith, you're not of any importance in the fitness industry.  You're not even respected even if you think so.  I got paid for entertain people at the Olympia but were laughing their asses off at you sitting back there at that event when you were trying to sell those gym franchises.  No one is going to take a 600+ fat guy seriously at a fitness expo so honestly I don't see why you even wasted the time and money especially since you could have used it to pay back Travis who you ripped off.

Spend more time getting in shape instead of trying to put down people because you have no room to talk whatsoever
