This whole calorie is a calorie BS is based on bodybuilding. Do you actually believe that you can compete in National Qualifier be it local or state following that sort of eating program up the day of a show? I could probably see it if no one showed up to compete and you were the only one there.

Your argument was that we are not talking about losing weight. I just replied that I never was talking about just losing weight.

And yes, any contest prep which follows the essential rules is just as good as the next. How else would it be possible that so many completely different approaches work, even for one and the same person? The only constants are the rules of caloric restriction, adequate protein intake, essential nutrition, and training.

VERY easily. Used to love it as a kid, but had blue cheese in my salad and it didnt sit right so since then, ewwwww to cheese

eating alot of fast food he has to sacrafice protein in favour for carbs and fats for his diets to keep low in total energy,

trust me I have tried. The only cheese I LOVE is Ricotta. I will eat kraft mac and cheese, not that is real cheese

I was talking about my last diet, which was 2009, where I gained muscle mass on the cut.

The diet before (in 2008) was the first where I tried the simple approach and I was still experimenting. Before that I tried just about any method out there.

 you gained muscle during your cutting diet?

Mmm, the approach to contest dieting hasn't changed all that much in the last 30 years. Still macro controlled no matter what the calories come out to. If you argue that competitors are are taking more carbs than before then fine, just consider WHY the are taking in more carbs.

i dont have too much time to give you an indepth reply. but you set up that diet because you thought whey at the beginning of the day would mean that you wouldnt have any protein in your body all day long, except for a brief period when you have way too much protein.

this is a false idea based on a false idea of protein digestions.

look up whey protein digestion rate. its about 10 grams per hour, slowly increasing over time. your 250gf whey protein shake should take about 25 hours to fully digets...  ;)

I would be interested in seeing where this info came from

I will ask you this....how is it that we have these national competitors claiming "they can eat just about anything and get ripped"?  Do you think its just the introduction of "supplements" these people are using....or is it the fact that they are meeting caloric needs (with deficit)?

Contest prep hasnt really changed much....thats for sure.  Its a slippery slope with loss of muscle (yes, I know you dont believe in that adam).....which is minimized with drugs.

Tbombz, never competed or trained anyone to compete, TA, never competed, Wavelength, not sure if he did or not. Even if they did, I don't think they would even admit they used this type of farce for diet.

It's a combination of both, when I used to train bodybuilders I never counted calories, only macros, what ever the calorie count, I never worried about it. People are eating what they want, on a cheat day, but I promise not as a regular part of a contest prep. The use of cutting compounds in addition to doing more cardio than weight training make a HUGE difference. Bottom line, dieting for a show is difficult if you're doing it the right way.

However there are upper level competitors that start loading on insulin and of course carbs beginning about 4-5 days out from a show with sometimes taking in up to 1000 or more grms leading up to the show (the "GH" gut is not "GH", it's carb loading) Those are not counted by calories but rather by macros.
