What used car or motorcyle should I buy?
« on: May 03, 2010, 12:47:56 PM »
Question:

If you had 15k to spare in a used car, motorcycle, what would buy?

I have a 2002 Explorer and just turned in my BMW 328  Car lease.  I came into some unexpected cash, about 15 and am looking at the following.

I can get any of the following:

1.  2 Door Jeep Sahara or Rubicon

2.  BMW Z4

3.  Harley Night Rod

I love the Night Rod and think that is as bad as as it gets.

However, the Jeep can be tricked out and also be bad ass and tow the jet ski.

The BMW is good for business image so I dont know.

So far the jeep is my first right now choice since it can tow my jet ski and be tricked out and the top comes off.

The BMW is nice, but really not useful at all.  At least the jeep can go in teh bad terrqain, tow the jet ski, top comes off, etc.

The Harley Night Rod is just plain bad ass.

If you are going to buy a jeep go with the original CJ7.  Get a 1980 or so fully customized.  you will have so much fun.  Those Rubicons are fake CJ's

lol fucking cracks me up that some people cant drive 'stick'. manual cars are what 95% of us drive in the uk, you put the clutch down to change gear and bring it up smoothly with the gas as you pull off, clutch goes down when you stop its not rocket science

as someone that lived in NYC and used to travel when I commuted in CT 60 miles each way to work (in traffic at times) manual sucks for city and traffic driving

Get the Harley..at least its cool.  Down here in SoFla, bmws and mercedes are every freakin' where.  What kills me is that mostly assholes drive 'em...........you gotta love the marketing behind these things.....you can drive a base model 3 series and say you drive a BMW...then, everything thinks you're rich when the car is comparable to a freakin' Camry.  It's kinda like buying a Chevy Cavalier and saying you drive a Corvette.

I dunno about the Jeep, I just don't like a rugged looking vehicle not having a v8 or a Diesel in it.  Plus, isn't it the car of choice for lesbians?  :D

Just last week I did pick up a '79 two-door Lincoln Continental for around 4 grand.  Full interior, really good body.  It's my new project car, and I'm gonna do it right this time(like getting a 9 inch rear, suspension, tires, and a race-ready tranny before dropping in a Ford big block).

Driving manual well is easy to learn and I suspect that you would have no problem. My first Volkswagen  was a 1978 Scirrocco,...When I picked it up at the used car lot...that was when I learned how to Drive stick.  Some people succeed in learning to swim on their own (this was not me)...However jumping in the deep in in picking up driving skills worked for me....After you learn how to shift after six months you will figure out how to downshift,...using downshift gives you better control over the car and if you do it right, it is not wearing on the clutch...I have traded in three Volkswagens all with the original clutches.

Around 60 g's but the one pictured comes with Five Axis Design 6” Wide Body Conversion kit. My buddy has one that's fully loaded with beautiful carbon fiber interior. The seats felt a little tight around my back but other than that the thing drives like a dream.

That's really interesting with the matte black paint.  I don't think I've seen that before aside from stripes in matte.
