Stunning Pictures of Al Gore's New $9 Million Mansion Media Totally Ignored By Noel Sheppard Created 05/03/2010 - 23:45

Nobel Laureate Al Gore purchased a $9 million mansion in the luxurious hills of Montecito, California, recently, and with the exception of the Los Angeles Times and Fox News, America's media couldn't care less.

You think it might be because the Gore-loving press wouldn't want people to consider the possibility that all of his global warming hysteria was really about lining his wallet and not saving the planet?

Formulate a response to that question as you look at what all that money the former Vice President is making off of spreading this myth can buy (h/t Doug Ross [1]):

Sweet, wouldn't you say? (Readers are encouraged to view more pictures of this fabulous estate here [2].)

Certainly not bad for a guy he supposedly [3] was worth between one and two million dollars in 2000.

Were the "Always Fascinated by the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" press interested?

Heck no.

According to LexisNexis, apart from the Los Angeles Times that broke [4] this story last Wednesday, and Fox News's Sean Hannity who spoke about this on consecutive nights last week, America's media were totally mum.

Why might that be?

You think Gore's adoring press don't want folks to know how much money he's making off this scam?

Before you answer THAT question, consider what the Nobel Laureate told [4] Congress last year as the House was deliberating cap-and-trade legislation:

AL GORE: Every penny that I have made, I have put right into a non-profit deal, Alliance For Climate Protection, to spread awareness of why we have to take on this challenge. And Congresswomen, if your, if, if you believe that the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of greed, you do not know me.

Now, imagine for a moment there were actually journalists still in America and not advocates pretending to be journalists.

A former Vice President who last year told a House committee he was putting all of his earnings into a non-profit company to "spread awareness of why we have to take on" global warming a year later buys a $9 million mansion with six fireplaces, five bedrooms, and nine bathrooms for him and his wife.

Don't you think SOMEBODY should have reported it other than Fox News, the LA Times, and conservative bloggers?

Where'd the money come from? Was this purchased by his non-profit corporation, and if so, how does he get away with that?

Did he sell some of his Google or Apple stock?

And how about some questions about how green the house is? Are there solar panels and windmills to power this facility? If not, what are their plans?

Forgetting all of that, if the Clintons, Bushes, or Cheneys bought such a place, do you think the media would cover it, at least as a human interest story?

For over three years, Gore's adoring press have followed virtually every move he's made since becoming the voice of global warming.

He buys a STUNNING villa as the unemployment rate stands at almost 10 percent and Americans are struggling to regain their footing after 2008's financial crisis, and the media are suddenly disinterested in him?

On exactly which planet, be it cooling or warming, does THAT make any sense?

I wonder what the carbon foot print of Al gores' lifestyle is compared to the average 20 families.

I fucking hate these people with a passion.  Can't another Katrina come, hopefully fuelled by Global Warming, CO2, and wipe all these scumbags away?

LoL at the financial geniuses on this site

Now is a GREAT time to buy a house, especially one like that

He probablay got a huge haircut on the selling price

I'm sure that thing is energy efficient/green etc.. or if it's not already then it's being retrofitted

LOL even more at the ridiculous comments on this thread

what does the UE rate have to do with a personal choice to buy a house

Show us some data that the house is not green and you might have something but why would all the "property rights" "teabaggers" care if Gore buys a big house?

Even if that house was converted to be "green", it would probably still consume more energy than 5-10 houses put together.  ;)

GMAFB you moron.  Al gore's TN home already uses tons more energy than 10 families usage combined and you are going to defend him?

Unreal.

but I"m sure you won't bother to look as it would require some thought on your part and who needs that when you can just make up your own shit and then get MAD

Yes, but not for others who are seeking to enact laws that will screw me over and all while he demands we curtail our energy usage while he GREATLY expands his.

Like most on the left, Al Gore is a hypocrite beyond explanation.

Why does Al Gore need two huge homes?

I mean Obama is saying that at a certain point people make enough money.  Isnt it enough to already have one massive mansion consuming the equivalent of 20 families combined usage?

Arnt we supposed to conserve energy in the age of scarcity and set an example for others?

Here is the problem.Al GORE got rich from using his position as former vice president, and scaring people into believing the hoax of global warming. His position on the subject, his movie, his books and his speeches are all lies and yet he became a billionaire using this propaganda, not because he is concerned with the environment, but as a get rich quick scheme.THAT wouldnt even bother me but it is bothersome that he used his power to scare his way to a billion dollars. He is a man who wants to dictate the temperature of OUR homes, but buys homes that use 10 times the electricity ours do.ONCE AGAIN WITH LIBS ITS DO AS I SAY,NOT AS I DO.

never been a big fan of gore's i think it's a little hypocritical to purchase such a large house and subsequent footprint when you wish others to cut their footprint too.  I think there may be more to this story perhaps he is converting it to solar or wind or some how cutting the costs to the environment of such a home.

I can see your point of view but I don't really have a problem with it

The home already existed so it's not like he creating a larger total footprint and we don't know what's going on .

Maybe he's getting ready to sell the Tennesse home and most likely he got a great deal on this home.

These extreme upper end homes are very hard to sell right now and the smart people (who have the money) are snapping up some great deals

Gore is a fraud.  I remember talking to my ecology prof in college and he talked at length about how, far and away, the thing that men do that they could change is the size of our homes to impact the environment and our carbon footprint.

Maybe you're right.  who knows all i know is that it's funny when i bring up taxing rich and such things, every right winger says it's wrong because they earned it, yet al gore earns millions and everyone is angry at him for it.  it seems a bit of a double standard.

Wow.  The "double-standard" is that Gore portrays himself as being environmentally concious and for the poor down trodden, yet he lives like a king.  Get it?

The double standard is that even if that house goes green, it will probably still consume more energy than multiple normal houses put together.

Warren Buffett is worth 10000 Gores yet he lives in the same house he grew up in. One would think the champion of the green movement would have the gall to live in a normal sized house.

When they (Repubs) are trying to push laws that will "skyrocket" my electric bill and do the exact opposite in their private life, I will be just as loud against them.

Remember - Al Gore is one of the main beneficiaries of this garbage.

i never said it wasn't a poor choice for someone in his position to make, but this is an isolated incident relating to his house, a lot of posters on here seem to hate him for being successful.  He is exactly like every rich american, working a system to their benefit.  i don't agree with it and never have that's why i'm not a fan of tax cuts for wealthy individuals and in favor of a more egalitarian society, however, the point of view of a lot of posters is at odds with their beliefs.
