I just hit calves for you man. Did standing calf raises on a 10cm thick book 3 sets of 12 ONE foot at a time with my bodyweight. My calves are 15 inches ..

I think I would fail with those one legged calf raises, I have never done them because they are so hard.
Stronger calves might assist in the squat and make one faster runner, I should do them.
