As in the real world, some people will like you and some will not, the trick is to have courage and not let others dictate to you what kind of person they think you should be. You decide that. And if you stand for anything in life, have real heart felt beliefs, there will always be some who will disagree with you and dislike and,as in the case of devilsmile, even hate you for it. If you're a person of honor and principle you can't live just to please others.

One thing for sure, in your short time here you've already established yourself as a fixture on GetBig. Whether people agree with you or not. Love you or hate you. They now pay attention to what you say and when you don't post for a while people wonder where you are. And even without trying you also owning some minds here.

Stick around, my friend. It took Steve Namat three years for people to realize he's a good guy. Even Kyomo, who seems to not have a malicious bone in his body, didn't like Steve at first. But he came around. It won't take you as long as Namat for people to see you're not a gimmick but a real person. You're cut from a different mold and one of a kind and that catches people off guard but they'll come around. You'll see. Mark my words. Just hang in there.

NW83 is many things but not a gimmick. The guy has posted pics and is a mod on the V board. The term "gimmick" is thrown around way too much around here.

Other way around friend. Have you ever seen me initiate a beef with this guy? I only respond when attacked. This thread is a perfect example. This thread had nothing to do with Squad. He follows me around posting my pics that he has saved on his hard drive desperately trying to own me and trying to recapture his past glory.

It's Benny Blanco that hates him. (And has brutally owned him many, many times.)

Ah, but I love to fight. Especially with bullies like Squad. Because I realized early in life that when you stand up to a bully you always find that they are really cowards.  

Hawaii is not like the mainland. Unless you want to be a chump you grow up fighting here. And it's no big thing. Not like on the mainland where guns and knives come into play. I just don't like to pick a fight because then that makes you a bully but I'm always glad when someone decides to target me. Remember that scene leading up to the BJ Penn/GSP fight? When BJ and his friends would get targeted by the neighborhood bullies? The bigger and older bullies would go down the line asking each one if "they like beef?" And most would be too scared. But when they got to BJ he'd smile and say, "I thought you'd never ask."

And it doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's that you don't back down to bullies and always stand up and fight the good fight. I so wish I could be face to face with fat Dave. But of course in real life when a real person is standing there with a smile on his face eager to see what you've got guys like Dave and NaturalWonder would change their tone real fast. "Hey it's only the interenet. It's all in good fun." And of course it is. It's always a "just kidding" thing when their bluff is called.

BTW, this is a good escape from the knee bar. The mistake most people make is that they will try to figure four their legs without sitting up. Sit up first and always grab your foot that is being attacked. Of course, when you're fighting "UFC" you don't have to sprawl out when on top. You can just start dropping bombs. Also, the narrator, Mike Fowler, is world class. He tapped out Saulo Riberio in Abu Dhabi. But if the guy has the knee good don't even try to resist but tap out quick. If he snaps it you're going to be crippled for life. Brock was only seconds away from really getting jacked up when Mir got the knee bar on him in the first fight. And he was pissed that the ref didn't stop it quicker.

Like SF, you are one of the folks here that I'd most want to meet. I can tell you great stories about how things were back in the beginning days of Jiu-Jitsu when the Gracies first came to So Cal. What it was like taking one on one private lessons with the family champion Rickson Gracie for two years. Amazed at how he use to toy with Royce and make him look like a White belt on the mat. How a fighter from Japan flew in with a camera crew and interrupted our class to challenge Rickson to a no holds bar fight. Rickson left him as a bloody mess. The Jap returned a week later bowing to Rickson with an apology written on a scroll.

This is Rickson barely out of his teens fighting an opponent that outweighed him by almost 50 pounds. In those days it was bare fist, no rules, no weight classes, anything goes.
