Some sports might be more intense at that specific moment while the person is engaging in said activity. However, in the long run, I think BBing is tougher than a lot of other sports.

yeah you do, do you not understand, you cannot tell someone what it is like unless you have walked in their shoes, which you haven't.  So how are you here telling us you know what it takes to be a formula 1 driver now too?  You are so naive.

bodybuilding difficulties: have the ability not to eat candy bars in contest mode, starvation

formula 1: make your best lap while not hitting your opponent, it takes so much effort and skill

please dont be retarded, thank you

no it aint, if you have good genetics for it, everyone can pick it up and be good at it, with other sports its not that simple

Well, now you're delving into another area of expertise. Howard Gardner believed that people have many different types of intelligence. He proposed that some people possess Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, which is "the potential of using one's whole body or parts of the body to solve problems. It is the ability to use mental abilities to coordinate bodily movements. Howard Gardner sees mental and physical activity as related." Many theorists believe this ability is also inborn, part of someones genetic capabilities. Thus, people like Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky might be born with a more keen sense of their own body, thus giving them good genetics for hand-eye coordination, and any other movement that would require one to succeed at their given sport. BBing is not the only sport that requires superior genetics.

same with golf, baseball, football, these guys are gifted as well and do not have to try as hard, that is why the normal joe off the street cannot ever no matter how hard he tries be a pro baseball or football player, your born with certain abilities, trying hard only goes so far.

lol starvation (dieting/low carb mode) sucks and is mentally tough as fuk. Eating is one of lifes main pleasures and when you restrain yourself from taking part, it's harder than most things in life.

Bodybuilding isn't so much skill as it is will. You gotta be strong in the mind and the truth is 99% of the population aren't strong enough to endure the 24-7 tactics it demands.

Im hearing this a lot lately, all i can say ''delusional''

yes it takes lot of discipline to shrug those shakes down every day, and training ''hard'' in some cases.

Formule 1, only 10 min of the race is harder than the whole year training for the olympia you punks!!!!

It involves lots of skills and the thing that gets overlooked how your mind needs to be in top, top condition!!

bodybuilders will go: ''its the toughest sport, 24/7 you know, i need to eat, sleep, sleep.

Its a tough racket, go home and tell your wife your troubles.

Well, it depends on what do you mean by "hard".

From the sheer time effort you have to put into the sport, and from the sacrifieces you have to make social and health-wise BB is one of the "hardest" sports.

No offense but you're a chubby schmoe. Bb'ing isn't a sport, but its a 24/7 discipline and there's nothing easy about it. Just because some pros are half retarded and take boatloads of drugs under the guidance of bigger, more drugged out dunces (or training "gurus") does not make it one bit easier.

You've trained to a degree that is hard for you, but you're nothing special. Lets see you take the drugs, injecting and working out with a bolus of oil in all your large muscles. Lets see you diet for real, not just scaling back the calories and cutting junk food, I mean a grueling bodybuilding diet. You're either nauseous or fighting hunger pains when you're really trying to augment your physique through food. The word diet is underappreciated like a $5 whore.

You can never be a bodybuilder. You have a beta male mentality, your training is pitiful and delusional and you could never cope with the drug regimen, diet or limited lifestyle choices that bodybuilding entails.

Hope this helps.

Beautifully stated my friend. This guy has no idea what it takes to be a pro BB'er.

I see what you're saying El Mariachi and you have some valid points, but it's really a hard debate to have because I really don't consider bodybuilding a "sport." Are other sports "harder" in a sense that it takes more skill? Yes absolutely. Bodybuilding doesn't require any skills. To make it to the IFBB you have to have a level of focus and mental toughness that is not really required in sports.

Sure you have to have discipline and mental toughness and focus to be great at sports, but only for small periods of tim throughout the day. People in the MLB, NFL and NBA are not structuring their entire day around meals and training, and they're certainly not "suffering" through the experiences you have when truely dieting. They go to practice for a few hours and play games for a few hours. Not near as "hard" as bodybuilding is to me.

Don't be fooled by some of the shit you hear. The guys that win the USA's, Nationals and pro shows are NOT missing meals or any training. The top guys at these shows are all taking the same drugs and they all have good genetics. What separates them is the effort they put in.

I'm guessing you guys are being sarcastic here.

If you truely think jumping out of birthday cakes at gay birthday parties, private posing sessions for your sugar daddy, shooting all those drugs and all that eating and sleeping is "hard" then you truely need a reality check.  ;)

Well, that is why I think natural bodybuilders are much more intense than the pros.

Compared to an IFBB pro they have to be more disciplined and can't afford to miss a meal or not get enough rest etc. But make no mistake, injecting a variety of steroids at high doses daily and popping oral's pretty much all day long isn't easy nor fun. Dealing with scar tissue, pain, potential infections and abscesses, not to mention how much steroids can really fuck with your brain, make you moody, depressed and jack your anxiety through the roof, especially while dieting, is not easy in any sense of the word -- it can become hell.

Maybe you train like a fitness model, and that's why you think training is so easy.

You need a lot of mental strength to take the pain. Not once, but 4-5 times per week and do cardio 2 hours per day while you are in diet. This fucks your brain, is really hard to do.

Hah, listen to this guy take himself so seriously. The only pain is from the neeeeeeeeeeedle...

Bodybuilding is hard because of all the drugs you gotta take and you gotta keep control while doing like 10 different substances.

If bodybuilding is a hard sport, then so is being a crackhead, or being a hippie who does acid twice a week and smokes herb all day. These are elite athletes too.

Bodybuilding is as "hard" as equestrian. Those jockeys have to diet hard and live a disciplined lifestyle too.

And nobody outside theirs "sports" view it as a sport.

I am not saying BB is the hardest sport, but until anyone diets for a show and puts in the iron time to build muscle to place high, they have no business commenting in this thread......

El Mariachi ,
Ok then bust your ass to go to gym to train hardcore style whole year long , stay on a diet for  long time and eat the same shit everyday with no taste , cut all your social and family life for your goal , and step on stage . Then Im wondering how is your opinion going to  change!!!

Dunnit for along time.......it's not a sport.
