For the 70's completist, add the Faces ('A nod is as good as a wink...') and Humble Pie (live at the Fillmore). Both classics.

absolutely love that song.

I'm not a video game guy, but, from what I understand, it's one of the most popular songs on Rock Band.

Here's part II. Could you imagine some twink emo band having to follow this? They'd be lucky to escape alive.

At about 7:00 the camera pans the crowd. Germans hadn't been that excited since WWII.

Rush had some pretty cool 70s tunes, even though they were better in the 80s. How's about The Voice Paul Rogers from Bad Co. :>

I would add Skynyrd, CCR, and the Allman Brothers to the list. I was nothing but a twinkle in my dad's eye in the 70s but I did find all my parents records and play them when I was younger.

My list would go something like this:

Best rock bands of the 70's:

1. Led Zeppelin
2. Black Sabbath
3. ACDC
4. Pink Floyd
5. Kiss
6. Aerosmith
7. Budgie (criminally underrated)
8. Scorpions
9. Thin Lizzy
10. Judas Priest
11. Rush
12. Van Halen (Tail End)
13. Deep Purple
14. Genesis
15. Blue Oyster Cult
16. UFO
17. Rainbow (criminally underrated in the mid-late 70's)
18. Motorhead (Tail End)
19. Rolling Stones
good list except for budgie? wtf is a budgie and what instutment did you play in this group my guess is the bone-a-phone. or perhaps the ventilated meat whistle.

permanent waves great album, moving pictures the 'breakout"to mainstream it only took a decade .moving picturs has great tunes sans tom sawyer ,best song is vital signs.that is a cd u listen to  all the way through.hemispheres, fairwell to kings,2112,are all concept type  esp 2112.signals has some good stuff, then it gets shaky grace under pressure, power windows, the thing with rush is after early 80's it was 2 cd's then live album, then another greatest hits,2 cd's ,another live album.they have at least 5 live albums and i don't know how many greatest hits.all the worlds a stage is very good early rush live album tying in there first 5 records.

Wow no one mentions

38 Special
Doobie Brothers
Styx
Supertramp
Monkees
Beatles
Moley Hachett

The Beatles were not a 70's band. They were a 60's band. If you open that can of worms, then you need to mention the Yardbirds, Cream, Hendrix and every other early to late 70's band.

I think Blue Cheer deserve a mention, as do Journey.

I was hesistant to mention Triumph because their studio albums, for the most part, aren't anything special, but, if you're going to talk about guitarists, Rik Emmett is easily one of the best and most entertaining.

Here he is killing a crowd of 500,000 at the U.S Festival. Many people who were there said Triumph was the best band on the metal day.

Yes, classic stuff is filthy. 80s/Mtv killed their rep.
