You also realize that the NBA has quite some non US guys in their Association, right?
I don't know a thing about basketball on a technical level, but I do know that you can't call yourself world champion on the assumption that you are the best without testing it first.
Why doesn't Brasil win every football world cup? Don't they have the best players, but can't manage to win every 4 years at the world cup?
It's not that I don't think the NBA doesn't have the best basketball players in the world, but wouldn't it be fair and more boasting if you really beat all teams the world championship is throwing at you?
How come the NBA players (collection of the best in the NBA) couldn't win from Argentina at the 2004 Olympics?
I hope you know what I'm trying to say: give others a chance to compete before you call yourself world champion.
Just because you are considered the best and are expected to win, it doesn't mean you will.
And who knows which talents in other countries are being discovered during these matches?
Look what's happening at the WC football right now: who thought that the USA would come back from a 2-0 deficit a few hours ago?
But they got a chance to compete and they proved to be worthy opponents.
Should the USA be sent home because Brasil, Germany, Argentina, etc etc are better then them anyway so don't bother giving it a try?
Maybe something good comes from this and gets more youth in the USA motivated to pick up football.
Same goes for basketball and talents in other countries.
